This beer is currently only available in the "Michelob Specialty Ales & Lagers Sampler Collection."
This beer is orange in color, reminiscent of baked pumpkin. Coincidence? I don't think so! The head stands up nicely at first, but quickly fades to a halo of foam that tries to stick to the side of the glass but doesn't quite do it.
There is certainly spice in the aroma, mostly nutmeg with some cinnamon. I can't be sure, but it sure seems like there is some of that classic A-B green apple in there. Certainly doesn't seem to have any ale fruitiness.
The flavor is mostly about the spices, and Nutmeg dominates. Label says "nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves" but I'm not picking up much of the latter two. Bitterness is very low, but the nutmeg makes up for it in a way. There is nothing there that I can really say tastes like pumpkin. I expected a little nuttiness from the roasted gourds but find none.
Mouthfeel is a little more full than typical A-B products. There is a sweetness in the finish and a glaze on my lips that suggest a higher finishing gravity than most Michelobs.
Overall this pumpkin beer is inoffensive, but unbalanced. I'm glad to have had one, but don't think I will go out of my way for a second.
