A: It pours a deep orange/amber color with a rather large and firm and creamy. It descends slowly enough, but doesn't leave hardly any lacing nor is head retention very good--not much more than a thin bubbly covering. Swirling fails to regenerate any head, as well.
S: Underwhelming. The aroma is primarily of pale/caramel malts with some vanilla and a hint of bourbon. It's not bad, but could and should definitely be stronger and more complex.
T&M: There's some caramel flavor with a huge amount of vanilla. It's a bit cloying, to say the least. The finish is short (thank goodness) and is a reprise of vanilla. I think the biggest problem is that the body is horribly thin. This beer needs to be bigger and badder to even stand a chance of tasting right, but its light body ruins any chance for salvation.
D: Well, it's just not good. Got about 1/3 down and then shared it with my disposal, which gurgled yet another sub-par review.
