Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a beer glass.
Appearance: Caramel mahogany color...light taupe head.
Smell: Very rich and sweet caramel malty nose. Just a pinch of vanilla.
Taste/Mouthfeel: Medium carbonation is an ample medium through which to channel the rich caramel malts and gentle vanilla tones. The oaked flavor is a great compliment to these other flavors, and the aftertaste is all vanilla. Rinses smoothly.
Drinkability: In the colder months, it would definitely serve its purpose as a winter warmer. Outside of that timeframe, served ice cold, it could be a great dessert beer.
I was pleasantly surprised by this one.
