This was a random buy down at the local liquor store.
Pours a deep amber/brown color. The same color as bourbon, deeper than an amber ale. Smell is strong on vanilla, and malts, vanilla really takes the front seat here. Taste is strong on vanilla and is too sweet for my taste, I prefer a bitter beer and this is in the other direction. However, the only think that brought out the bourbon taste in this beer was a couple pieces of popcorn. After a minute or so I noticed that the aftertaste of the two was the bourbon, but right now, it's a grossly sweet aftertaste, not pleasant. In the mouth this beer stings. It is not a wonderful smooth beer, it's rather harsh and unpleasant again in this category. Drinkability. Well, I've had two so far and will be quitting for the night and wondering what the hell I'm going to do with four more bottles. Anyone up for a swap?
