American Blonde Ale |  5.40% ABV

Availability: Summer

Notes/Commercial Description:
We wanted to create a beer with the same distinct crispness and color that you get in the days of early summer. Using a dry-hopping technique, hops are not only added to the brew kettle, but also included in the aging tank, giving the specialty beer its distinct and crisp hop aroma. The choice selection of pale and caramel roasted barley malt gives this beer its deep golden color that looks great in a glass.

AB- Beach Bum Blonde

On tap at TGI Friday's in Block E- Minneapolis

Appearance- light orange/ yellow with no head. Chunks of ice are floating in the beer which has been served in a frosted mug.
Smell- not much, light hay/ straw.
Taste- Barn straw/ hay and sweet corn.
Mouthfeel- watery and sweet. Cheap flat soda comes to mind. Mostly the bad taste is drowned out by the wateriness of the beer.

Overall- This is a very bad attempt at a Blonde. AB has millions of dollars and after all their R&D they realized their minions love cheap p!ss beer. So they did the inevitable produced yet another 1. Stay far away from this p!ss.

Part of a build it yourself sampler six pack.

Golden yellow and perfectly clear with a foamy head and obvious carbonation bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass. Head dissipated after a bit and left some lacing. Nothing impressive to look at. Very average.

Smelled grainy and slightly citrusey with a touch of pine cone. Not impressed.

Tasted grainy with some hops and perhaps a touch of citrus. Again, not impressed.

Mouthfeel watery with nothing impressive about it at all.

I'd just assume drink OE8 to be honest. At least that stuff is cheep and drinkable, if not especially good. Given that OE8 is about a third the price and comes in cans, I know which one is more likely to make it to my next fishin' trip.

Made by bud? Tastes like it was made by bud. PASS.

ETA: I actually rated OE8 HIGHER. And the rating was deserved in both cases.

pours a very clear yellow with a small white head, and not much lacing.

smell is faint, not really much there.

taste is of some grain, like a souped up bud with a touch of wheat, ends funky with a bad aftertaste.

really not that good at all, typical bud.

The smell is of fresh oranges and ????,
Has a low sized head and the lacing is abysmal to non existent...
The taste is very muddled and grainy ...

This was not very enjoyable and frankly the worst of the 'limited edition' seasonal brews from AB

.. I will take a lemon with me if i need refreshing!

A : Pours a clear straw yellow with a decent head which lasted longer than I was expecting

S : None, absolutely none. I just can't pick up anything

T : Rather bland. Pretty much a tasteless blonde beer. There's just enough to let you know it's a beer. Mainly some corn and hop flavor

M : Crisp and light

D : It's not bad for a hot summer day but there's other ones I'd pick over it.

I personally did not enjoy this beer very much. It smelled of corn and looked just like a lot of AHB's macro swill. I thought it tasted like a mix between Miller High Life and Miller Genuine Draft, with a much more alcoholic aftertaste. I found the highly alcoholic to be a big turn-off. There was also a lot of carbonation, ala MHL.

Sal's Bar and Liquor in Wash. Twp., NJ.
6 pack of 12 oz. bottles
May 2007 Expiration
Pint Glass

A: Poured a clear golden color with a sudsy head that quickly frittered away. Little lacing.

S: Typical beer smell; you get almost a metal or iron smell.

T: Somewhat malty but not much to taste.

M: Lots of bubbles; refreshing when served; good for a hot beach day when your mouth is dry and sandy.

D: Believe me, I am a fan of Budweiser and not afraid to say it. I think Anheuser-Busch makes mass quantities of respectful beer. However, the Beach Bum was simply that, a bum. Not impressive and not something I plan on trying again. I am curious to still try their other seasonal brews though.

Thank you God for putting this on pallet special at Wal-Mart right before my football party. This beer was at the appropriate price of $2.60 a six pack. Also it kept everyone away from my Dead Guy on draft. Perfectly placed in a bucket of ice outside in our football theatre. I obviously tried to say really nice things about this malt liquor

So this is what it tastes like to mix Val Deiu with water because if that is what Anheuser-Busch was going for they have suceeded. It is definitely a blonde looking ale with the gold and the cloudiness but that about it. Smells of sweet grains and corn from the school cafeteria. Tastes, well like a perfectly good Val Deiu shaken up and diluted with toilet water. The fact I got this on tap at a dirty bar in Fort Myers with that being their "special seasonal" says it all.

A: Pours a clear gold with a fizzy white head that disappears within seconds. Lacing is decent. Really nothing to write home about.

S: Aromas of lemon, herbs, straw, and grass fill the nose, but there is a mildly skunked aroma there too. Obviously, this bottle has been sitting too long, but it's too late to turn back now.

T: Notes of lemon, orange zest, grass, straw, damp hay, herbs, and minerals wash across the palate. The finish is fleeting with a quick punch of lemon, grass, and straw flavors.

M: Very light in body and dry. Carbonation is extremely crisp. This strikes me as being a rather gassy beer. I wouldn't want to have more than one of these at a time.

O: If I had a fresher bottle of this to review, I'm not sure that I would give it any higher of a rating. To me, this is just a standard macro attempt at an ale. It's predictable stuff that lacks depth and substance. I won't be seeking it out again if I can help it.

There are some reviews on here that talk about the hops of this beer. Hops? Really? I'm not really sure how anybody tasted hops in this beer. They're non-existent. It is malty, but tastes really, really watery... which I expected once I saw the "Anheuser-Busch" label. There are actually some decent fruits, but it's a really weak presence. Not really a presence at all, actually. Really disappointing. I was hoping to cleanse the memory of Landshark Lager from my taste buds. Sadly, this just added to the disappointment. Haven't had good luck with new beers so far this weekend. Thank god for Dogfish Head 90 and Sam Boston Lager.

Pint at Naja's Place

Super dry blonde that is good to drink on a hot day, but has very minimal taste

Poured with pretty much no head and bright golden color

Would not have this one again

No smell to it and tasted similar to a Budweiser Light to me, just with more alcohol

I had this at Rib Fest in Chicago. Served in a plastic cup from a tap.

The first thing I noticed was the nice orange color and the tight foam head. The first thing I tasted was the hops. I don't know what kind they were, but they had a gritty flavor, more asparagus than cannabis in character. It tastes like they used a bittering hop for aroma, but didn't put in enough to make it interesting. After that, the malts peered around the corner and said "hey." Then ducked back under the astringency. To me, it seemed like every flavor came up promising to be bold, then ducked away so as not to offend before making an impression. I feel no need to taste this one again.

Can someone over-think a beer? If so, this is quite possibly proof.

looks- golden straw with ahead that lasted all of 30 seconds

smell- what smell? seriously there is no smell, scent or nose. Maybe some adjuncts and very weak malt but no hops. All in all, its missing in the nose.

taste- Budweiser? maybe some corn adjunct. maybe some malt: but truly not much taste.

mouthfeel- bubbly, highly carbonated, too carbonated.

drinkability- drinkable, yeah. But so is Goebbels, Piels, Hamms, Schmitts, Genesee, Old Milwaukee, Milwaukee's best: and they're are a whole lot cheaper. You get the idea.

There's cheaper, more drinkable beer available. Stay away from this crap. It might be a blonde ale, not at all comparable to a Kolsch and more similar to an American macro lager.
