Reviewed beer was part of a mixed 12 pack.
Appearance: Poured from the 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. The beer is a very dark brown to near black. Pour produces a light brown head about 1 inch in height. Head sowly fades to a tight cover on the liquid that leaves some decent lacing.
Smell: This is your typical AB beer. Light aromas, mostly o which are malt-related. Some roasted malt, light chocolate/caramel with a bit nutty scent to it. The point here is the scent of the beer is kept minimal.
Taste: Some decent roasted malt flavorings that are in line with the scent. Taste leans to bitter roasted malts, not sweet. Hop induced bitterness is kept at a minimum, although I do expect it for this beer. Overall, I was a bit surprised with this beer.
Mouthfeel: Falling short of a full bodied beer, I'll go with medium bodied. Light carbonation that feels natural for this offering.
Drinkability: As would be expected for an AB beer, they produce a good easy drinking and easy to enjoy porter. I would definitely pick up more of this, particularly when I see Michelob beers on sale for $5.99 or less a six.
