"Premium Heritage", "All Natural Ale", "Rich and Smooth", so adorn the words on this 12oz bottle. Leave it up to Michelob to convince my skeptical beer enthusiasm otherwise. Born on date of May 03, 2007. This poured out crystal clear, but then I did actually see a small slurry of yeast in the bottom of the bottle, so I swirled and added it. Lightly cloudy pale golden with peach accents, moderate carbonation with an average-sized rocky white head. Average retention and sparse lacing. Surprise, surprise....we do have a Bavarian Hefe-Weizen in our midsts! The nose is actually pretty dang good with the requisite cloves and green bananas..touch of crackery wheat and rubber. Mouthfeel is crisp and clean with a medium-light body. Dang! This is a damn good beer! Probably the first authentic ale I've ever had from a macrobrewer! No corn, no rice, no cheap domestic lager taste. This is the real deal! The taste is spicy and full flavored with a complimentary breadiness, a little bit of burnt rubber which I find appetizing if restrained (unlike Bell's wheat series), green bananas...nice! The bitterness is perfectly balanced...delicate yet sharp and distinct at the same time.

Dude, seriously...this is a damn fine tasty brew, and believe it or not, one of the best Hefe-Weizens I've ever had! Forget the Michlelob label...Now I can say that I have actually been impressed by a macrobrew! Damn, this is tasty. I will be definitely picking up more of this. I could put away of 6'er of this no prob. An amazing beer. Highly recommended!

The standard I use for any Hefe Weizen is Hofbrau. We have a Hofbrauhaus here near where I live, and the best, freshest Weizen is brewed just a few miles from my house. However, a few local stores, like Kroger, carry the 1 liter bottles of Hofbrau Hefe Weizen, but it’s not nearly as good because it has a long journey from Germany, and sits the shelves a while here in the states. This leads me to my point. When I tried this Bavarian Style Wheat, it was closer to Hofbrau’s fresh draft Hefe Weizen than the imported bottled Hofbrau Hefe Weizen. I was shocked, and happy. I recently saw this in a 6 pack. Hopefully A-B will keep this one.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a tall Pilsner glass. There appears to be no freshness date only an odd bottle number. (09232 VB49)

Appearance: This beer has a hazy and bright straw yellow colored body with a nice two to three finger white head. The head fades slowly and its lacing is slick.

Smell: The aroma is full of nice banana and some light clove notes from the yeast which also adds nice bready notes to the sweet wheat maltiness in the aroma.

Taste/Palate: There is a tasty sweet bready/wheaty malt base with a nice fruity yeast character that adds to the base maltiness. The banana notes are sweet up front then dry out a touch towards the finish. The body and texture have an average medium feel with average carbonation.

Notes: This is an all-around solid beer in my opinion and one that I would like to see it by itself in 6 packs.

Came from a sampler case, @$10.99 just a day out of date. Tomorrow I will buy a couple more 20 bottle cases. I like all kinds of beer, I would still buy the 3 cases for $7.50 if there were available.Yikes, I am living 30 years in the past. First thing I noticed was that clove flavor everybody likes to mention, then, after a moment that banana Popsicle flavor came though. In a pilsner glass the faint haze looks great. Not much head after sitting 5 minutes- what's a head for anyway? Geeze, I like this stuff, and no lemon either. Like I say, tomorrow I buy 2 or 3 more cases, hope it's still there. By the way, the Porter is great too. I am a Hamm's man, so give me a break!

First of I am going to say I am going to be very open minded with any review I do on here knowing that everyone has their own likes and dislikes. This beer pours a very cloudy lighter amber color with plenty of head at first but the head disappeared pretty quickly. The smell is decent almost has a yeast smell which should be expected with any true wheat beer. The taste isn't to bad also with a light taste of banana and wheat taste. My opinion on this beer is if your the type of person who is not out for a full flavored dark beer. This would be a good one for you two try. This beer still offers you pleny of flavor for how smooth and light it is. Overall I must say good job Anheuser Busch. Don't understand why they don't try to market these beers more so than they do in their variety pack.

pours cloudy golden yellow with a big foamy 3+ finger head that fades and leaves no lacing

smells like a hefe should wheat banana spice clove

taste is great - i think people just hate on it because its from AB - big flavors of banana bread clove ample spice and wheat

mouthfeel was just thin which was very odd since the flavors are there this leads into ->>

drinkability - maybe AB does know something about drinkability - this beer is light and oh so tasty - while looks and mouthfeel play into a beers rating but mean very little to me when i want a flavorful brew to drink with friends

which is why this hefe is one of the better ones i have had

Pours yellow with a solid if quickly dying head. Nothing exceptional, but nice enough.

Smells of cloves, light white pepper, and strongly of spicy belgian yeast. Nothing Bavarian about this--but it's darn good.

Tastes very much like it smells. A good kick of spice followed by a smooth, lightly burny Belgiany yeast. Very nice. Wow

What the hell? This is a very solid example of the style--and from AB that's a damn shock.

Hazy, pale-gold in hue, minimal animation; white head, at the apex the foam was only a finger tall. Head retention was tolerable, the bubbles steadily faded to a soapy cap before turning naked in the middle. Wheat beers should have much better head qualities, IMO. There is minimal lacing; hardly noteworthy. The appearance falls on the low end of standard.

The nose smells wheaty with barley malt undercurrents; hints of bubblegum, suggestions of banana… faint notions of clove can be detected. IMO, the yeast does a good job adding the needed “Hefe” aromas. I’d like some more wheat aromas (but that is nitpicking); maybe some peppery notes would be nice (again, nitpicking). Moderate-low potency; the bouquet says what I want a Hefeweizen to say. I’d like more pizzazz but the nose is still inviting.

The palate is tastier than expected! Wheat flavors upfront and lingers throughout; the ideal amount of banana flavors shine with hints of clove. The bubblegum arrives towards the finish, I like it. Sweet, candy-ish ending with a smattering of malt; I can’t complain… I like this Hefe. While it is not world class it is pretty damn tasty! I like the soft, pliable nature of the flavors. Impressive.

Around medium in body, moderate carbonation, the mouthfeel fits the style nicely. Maybe a tad more effervesces would be nice but I can live with it as is.

I could happily kickback and drink a six-pack of this beer. It is good. Ignore the AB label. Call me stupid but this is as well-made as any American Hefe I’ve tried (Granted, I haven’t tried all the heavy hitters, i.e., Live Oak). Still, if I had another bottle I’d drink it right now. No complaints. Delicious. Given to me by an AB rep; this comes in six-packs, right?

Pours out a nice hazy orange with a white head.

Smell. Lots of bananas, natural and candy. Cloves are also nice and present. A bit strong with the banana, which though i like, can see it being a bit too much sometimes

Taste. Bananas continue to come with sweet bananas and cloves with a bit of cinnoman. Has a nice slight tartness. Finishes with the candy banana sweetness. I am pleasantly surprised with this taste.

Mouthfeel. Body is a touch thicker than many others in it's style and is nice and creamy. Carbonation is moderate. quite nice.

Overall, i am extremely impressed with their hefe, not expecting it to be so good. I love a hefe full of the banana and spice flavors, and this one delivers quite nicely. Has a nice rich and creamy mouthfeel (not so crisp), and i really enjoy that as well. If they sold this in six packs around here, it would be very hard for me not to pick it up often. One of the best wheats made in america.

pours into my weizen glass a cloudy and very effervescent dirty gold colour. foamy head dies down quickly, but lots of lively carbonation supports what head is left for awhile. little lacing. nice spicy clove and banana aroma. the taste is another pleasant and traditional wallop of clove and spice, wheat notes with a dose of ripe bananas. the addition of the dregs in the bottom of the bottle of course makes all the difference in the taste profile. it settles down the carbonation and adds a nice yeast element that makes it seem authentic to the style. vanilla and bubblegum appear loudly and there is a nice floral hop attitude, too, which makes it seem all the more interesting. this is a nice tasting hefeweizen. very impressive. it's got all nuances of a good hefe nailed. the body is nice and roundish; the mouthfeel creamy after all the carbonation has settled down. finishes beautifully...lots of residual hefe flavours to savor .

ok...i was taken aback by this offering, not expecting at all the true to style "bavarian style wheat". it's a hefe and it's good. i only bought a sixer expecting to be disappointed, but i will go back for more due to the fact i'm short on hefe examples this year. a fine job from the "evil A-B".

Pours a cloudy gold.
Great smell, hops, malt, banana and clove.
Delicious. Very sweet but still has character. All the smells come through.
Feels nice in the mouth. Smooth carbonation.
Quite drinkable, maybe a little too sweet but otherwise a surprisingly complex and tasty beer.

$10.99 12 pack of Michelob specialty brews is a great deal. This is probably my favorite.

Pours a hazy straw colored body with a big white fluffy head that leaves a good amount of lacing. Aroma is of banana, some other fruit and spice. Tastes are of banana and spice along with some orange peel and bready malt. It is light bodied, very smooth and creamy with a clean dry finish. This beer's drinkability is high in my opinion. I could easily down quite a few of these.

I was really surprised with just how good this AB brew is. I hope it becomes available in 6packs in my area in the near future.

A very nice AB wheat indeed. I was most impressed.

It poured a cloudy, hazy pale straw with a nice looking white head that maintained and laced well all glass long.
The aroma was citric, sour dough and spice.
The taste was a slight citric hop with a nice spice background that peppers the mouthfeel aftertaste. You also get hints of fruit like mango and banana. The mouth is also left with a slight citric lemon tart.

An awesome beer from an AB standpoint. Im glad we picked up the sample pack for thisone and the Porter.

Of the beers in the mixed 12pack I purchased, this is easily the best one of the bunch. Pours a very light golden color with crystal clear clarity. Not sure if that is really wanted in an "unfiltered beer". Certainly looks filtered to me. A huge two finger head tops the clear beer.

Aroma is very nice. Lots of corriander and spice. Sweetness from some belgian candi possibly. Bananas as well. Unlike most other macros that attempt the style, no rice or other adjuncts are noticeable in the aroma. Smells like a quality beer.

Taste is sweet and spicy. Coriander and lemon. Peppery spice. Orange peel as well. Big time banana flavors.

In a blind taste test, I would not be able to tell a difference in other micro version and this. A very nice brew. Great for summer and even on a summer like day in the middle of December here in NC. A delicious beer with unbelievable drinkability.

12oz bottle that was part of the mixed pack. drank from a wizen glass.

A- this one pours a cloudy golden yellow colored body with a small white head. the head vanishes after a minute and leaves behind little to no lacing.

S- strong yeasty smell, as expected. lots of spices like banana and clove. a bit of bubblegum.

T- the taste is very similar to the nose. lots of the bubblegum and spices that i could smell. very yeasty.

M- medium to full bodied with ample carbonation.

D- easy drinking session beer. i was surprised by this one. if it came in six packs i would consider buying it again.

Cheers to InterKen (sic) for his reccomendation on the 20 pack. I've been scared to try this the last few years...

Pours an effervescent golden with 4 fingers of eggshell white head. Average lacing & below average head retention

S: Phenols, lemons & grass

T: Bubblegum, lemons, & appleskin up front. Some grassy notes as this warms. Finishes crisp, citrussy & fruitty & a little dry

MF: Medium-bodied with lively carbonation

Drank real easy. I knew AB could do a solid hefe product again if they put their minds to it

12 oz. twist-off capped bottle, "born on 17 Oct 2007", part of variety pack, poured into Weizen glass:

Pours semi-clouded golden yellow with a two-finger white head that slowly descends to a thin, lasting cover. Some lacing sticks.

The smell is of banana/clove and wheat tang. Very banana-ish and aromatic.

The taste is of banana/clove with a subtle toffeeish background. Wheat tang with a hint of bubblegum present. Nice, appropriate yeast strain here. It has a sweetish, crisp, clean, refreshing finish.

Light-bodied, with a bit of fizz. Crisp.

I was pleasantly surprized at this one. Well-done. I could see getting an occassional 6-pack of this in the summer...but, it's only available in the variety pack, as far as I know (I might be wrong).

Poured from the bottle into a pint glass, beer is a hazy yellow color with a thin, effervescent head. The smell is very much of banana, slightly clovey and a bit of spice. The taste is similar to the smell, with a hint of budwiserish malt. The mouthfeel is pretty light in body with not too much carbonation. Very drinkable, goes down easy and smooth. I'm very impressed with this beer, cheers to AB for this one!

This is nice!
I worked up a sweat in the garden today and decided to take a break with a light beer
Pours a soft golden yellow with a nice two finger white head.

Aromas of banana, white pepper and a touch of lemon.

Taste is everything a bavarian wheat should be. Clean, crisp, refreshing with that bavarian banana wheat profile and a soft peppery finish.

Leaves the mouth nicely clean and dry.
Wonderful.

Poured a cloudy medium straw hue with a three finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell featured a well defined banana yeat aroma with a mild clove spiciness.

The taste consisted of solid yeast and wheat flavors with a mild spiciness and a trace lemony flavor.

The mouthfeel was good and chewy.

Overall a very good attempt at the style. As good as most American hefes. I am very impressed with this AB offering.

Poured from 12oz bottle into half liter Paulaner weizen glass.

Appearance: Cloudy straw with a thick foamy head that doesn't seem to dissipate at all, leaving thick foam residue around the glass when it does.

Smell: Doughy bread with wheat, citrus spice, and hints of banana.

Taste: Starts with sweet citrus flavors, rounded out by bread. Spicy-sweet finish with touches of wheat throughout.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied and smooth, very refreshing

Drinkability: A great hefeweizen, a pleasant surprise from AB.
