A crisp, delicious wheat beer, Michelob Bavarian Style Wheat is brewed as a traditional, unfiltered hefeweizen. Natural cloudiness and a light, bright yellow color characterize this refreshing beer. You'll notice a pronounced spicy aroma and refreshing finish.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a "Michelob Specialty Ales & Lagers" pilsner/weizen glass.

Pours a slightly hazy bright golden hue; the foamy white head is disappointing for a Hefeweizen, raising itself to a paltry stature and falling away a bit too quickly. Some light stick remains as it fades away.

Aroma is patently Bavarian, with banana-like fruity esters dominating; a bit of clove-like spiciness shows itself underneath with a hint of bubblegum, but the esters take hold.

A light and effervescent mouthfeel brings to the table spicy flavors of clove and nutmeg and lots of fruity esters showing themselves through banana and apricot notes, though well-balanced by the Bavarian yeast byproducts and overlaid upon a base of slightly sweet, slightly grainy wheat-and-barley malt. Finishes long and somewhat fruity-malty-sweet.

Drinkable and fairly authentic, though a bit more evident spiciness would be preferred and certainly more head retention; increasing the amount of wheat in the grist would undoubtedly solve that problem, but what can one expect from a company that works more than anything else to decrease the costs of production? More wheat in a wheat beer would probably be a bit too much to ask for.

Attractively hazed sunflower beer, but it is very fizzy, inappropriately so, and the head barely forms before it disappears. The aroma is much more appealing, ripe with banana and clove and an unexpected edge of parsley. Mild and soft on the palate, and though it is pleasantly tangy, yeasty and wheaty and fruity, it is not particularly interesting or robust. The mouthfeel, however, is spot-on, very soft and light and dry. Finish brings forth starchy notes of bread and brown sugar. This is not the best Hefe out there, but it's far from the worst - highly drinkable and recommended, especially for the price!

A: Head in a weizen glass tends to be something I expect from a hefe, and it's a little weak there. Nonetheless, there is a little and it sticks around for at least a little while. Beer itself is a lighter blonde, slightly hazy, but does appear to be a little more clear than I might expect.

S + T: The standard banana/clove aromas are present, both in the aroma and flavour. The bottle makes a statement about the presence of citrus, which I don't really pick up on, honestly. It is a little mild, as well, though it is appropriate for the style and for what I suspect they are aiming for.

M + D: Moderate carbonation and body, smooth and easy drinking. While there are other hefeweizens that have been more enjoyable, this still serves as a good brew and I have had no problem with enjoying the six-pack that came in a variety pack. Not too bad at all.

Part of the sampler pack.

It pours a very hazy straw gold with a small head of foam that quickly shrinks to a few islands and a ring around the glass.

It smells pretty Hefeweizen like...good notes of clove and banana and a light citrus.

Taking my first sip and the clove and banana are there with a very mild note of wheat and an even lighter note of citrus that I could have easily missed but yet not missed if you catch my drift.
This is pretty darn tasty and it's a very easy drinker. Hell, the mouthfeel borders on medium so that's another plus. The caronation isn't all fizzy and sh*t so...all in all, this is a good stab at the style, me thinks. I'm not at all sad that I sprung the bucks for this sampler pack as I only found the Porter to be not to my liking.

If this showed up on tap at my local Old Chicago, I'd drink some.
Good job.

A - Pours cloudy gold, with a thin white head. Lots of sparkly bubbles keep floating up.

S - Not much, a little wet wheat, maybe some sweetness.

T - A nice malty sweetness, maybe a little wheat flavor. It's there and gone however. All the carbonation leaves a very clean finish.

M - Light-Medium. Too light for the style maybe. Also lots of carbonation, very sharp.

D - For the price, it's not bad at all, but not a great hefe.

Bought a Michelob mixed sampler 12 pack for $9.99

Wow, big surprise here! I may be a spring chicken when it comes to beer drinking but this was one of the better Hefe's I've had and to think it comes from AB. Smells of banana/clove mixture, drinkability is superb, and has a great mouthfeel.

Part of a Michelob combo pack. Pale yellow in the glass with a hazy, bubbly mix of sediment. Decent head that disappeared quickly. Malty spice in the nose, but the body is a bit thin and spritzy. Taste is wheat and hops spice with a bit more water than many craft hefeweizens. As a refreshing beverage with food on the deck in the summer, it's a winner. A step up from the usual macro. But nothing more special.

Appearance- I thought it was a little clear for wheat but other than that it was not bad. It has decent yellow body. The head and lace are now you see them now you don't.

Smell- The smell was beany, spiced and fruity malt like.

Taste- The taste starts off well it has a good initial wheat beer taste but the aftertaste is not quit right. The after has vegetable like feel.

Mouthfeel- Soupy.

Drinkability- Average.

This brew poured to a nice yellow color, very clear with a small white head that had limited retention and left no lacing. No haze to this brew what so ever, crystal clear which is a little out of the norm. The aroma is quite pleasant, with a noticeable banana scent mixed with a slight clove. Very surprised by this as I was actually expecting is to miss the mark but so far quite good! The flavors are nice, pretty nice wheat malt flavors mixed in with normal wheat beer flavors. No nothing majority exciting is going on here but this is a nice easy, drinkable brew that I would not peg foe a AB product. The feel is adequate, a little on the watery side. This is a truly nice brew, nothing out of the ordinary going on here but IMO quite well done.

A - Light Yellow, touch of cloudyness, white head with light lacing.

S - Fruity scent, I can't pick up much else.

T - Pretty light on flavor, seems close to a standard Hefe that doesn't break any boundries. Hint of fruit possibly, but only upfront.

M - Light and has a carb bite to it.

D - I had this last weekend, on a day around 45 degrees. I could see myself putting back a few of these during the hot summer months as this style becomes my favorite in July.

I liked this, I was suprised really. Although out of all BMC beers the Michelob line seems to offer some of the more interesting offerings.

Appearance - Medium yellow, maybe with a little orange. Slightly hazy. Thin, quickly dissipating white head.

Smell - Moderately strong banana odor without even putting my nose near the glass. Closer observation also reveals nice wheaty scent.

Taste - Nice sweet wheat flavor. Somewhat more than a hint of banana. Blends well though. Hops very light, unobtrusive. Pretty good.

Mouthfeel - Medium. Pretty crisp.

Drinkability - I've never associated Michelob with good beer. This beer, however, has a very pleasant taste. A nice surprise.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into my pint glass. This beer is a somewhat cloudy medium golden color. White head was about an inch thick when poured. Quickly settled to a very thin, almost non existent surface layer of foam with a decent white ring lining the inside of the glass and very little lacing. Some decent malty wheat and spice aromas, including a nice hint of clove, and a hint of banana were present. Has some sweet, malt upfront with the aforementioned clove along with a bit of orange and banana. No discernible hops whatsoever. Also has a bit of a metallic off-flavor, which is certainly a turn off. Has a somewhat crisp, light to medium bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Drinkablity is pretty good due to the fact that this beer is somewhat light overall. Not drinkable in the way a truly well crafted beer is. Overall an ok beer here, nothing special nothing horrible. I guess it pretty good for something brewed by A-B.

This is nice!
I worked up a sweat in the garden today and decided to take a break with a light beer
Pours a soft golden yellow with a nice two finger white head.

Aromas of banana, white pepper and a touch of lemon.

Taste is everything a bavarian wheat should be. Clean, crisp, refreshing with that bavarian banana wheat profile and a soft peppery finish.

Leaves the mouth nicely clean and dry.
Wonderful.

Pours a cloudy (unfiltered) yellow-orange color with a head that stands up about 3/4 of an inch tall. Head quickly reduced to a ring of foam that only covered the outer ring of the glass. Smells of bready/wheaty malts and spices. Taste is similar to others in this style, but I found this beer to have a slight metallic taste towards the finish.

Morey's Bottom Line: As I've said before, this is not my favorite style of beer, however aside from the metallic taste that I mentioned, this beer goes down pretty easy.

Poured typical haze, with small head, didn't last long at all. No lacing.

To be honest, I didn't really know what to expect. AB has done a real nice job with it's seasonals, not great, but good.

Smell of banannas, wheat bread, and even a sniff of clove! WOW! Had to look at the label again & remind myself it was a macro.

Taste: Sweet, bananna, wheat, clove. It's all there, and, it does indeed stack up to most any domestic wheat beers I have had. I think the only thing that hurt it, for me, was a real "watery" finish.

I like the Michelob "craft" series, the Porter, Hefe, Marzen, and even the Pale Ale are decent takes, that go a long way to being a decent beer.

Thanks to Mick & Holly for the 20 pack sampler! Sampled 2/6/2008. Poured into my Weihenstephaner Hefeweizen Glass (HERESY!) from the 12 oz brown bottle (Born on 08SEP07). The pour produced a hefty white head of 2" that quickly fell to a thin cap leaving no lace. I dutifully swirled the last bit of beer in the bottle to pick up the spent yeast and poured it into the glass to yield that hefeweizen haze. Cloudy, yellow beer.

The nose is weak but the tell-tale hints of fruity and yeasty smells are there.

Taste: Not bad! A lighter bodied Hefeweizen... refreshing. Slight taste of banana. Also apple. Tiny bit of hops at the end.

MF: A bit too thin for my taste. Good carbonation.

Drinkability: Good, refreshing hefeweisen. nothing objectionable.

From a variety 20-pack

Clear until I swirled and poured the dreg to get the proper haze. Actually had a bit of a head to it, but it faded rather quickly. No lace of course.

I can smell the banana in here. Did the brewmasters at Anheuser swipe some yeast and recipes from one of the companies it bought?

Shockingly good taste for a micro. Ignore the label on the bottle - I think that this can compare to many other decent micro Heffies. Doesn't have the body or clove that I like, but there's ligit banana and some wheat crispness that I dig. Watery at the finish but still sweet, I'd have no problem snagging a sixer of these some time

Came from a sampler pack… Poured out a crystal clear light golden color with plenty of carbonation and a short lasting but thick head that thinned out into an even layer with no lacing at all. It has a very sweet and fruity aroma: oranges, some peach, a little banana and very little malt. It has a crisp but not refreshing feel to it and it seems a bit too watery. It’s slightly tart and has some mild hints of banana in its aftertaste, but it’s not dry and doesn’t have any alcohol taste in it. Over all not bad and its a pretty smooth drinker.

12 oz. bottle in a weizen glass.

A - Nice cloudy pale yellow with little head.

S - Sweet wheat and malt smell.

T - Nice and sweet. Almost a creamed corn flavor.

M - Light bodied with good carbonation.

D - OK, it's a little to sweet but it's a lot better than I expected from Michelob.

12 oz. twist-off capped bottle, "born on 17 Oct 2007", part of variety pack, poured into Weizen glass:

Pours semi-clouded golden yellow with a two-finger white head that slowly descends to a thin, lasting cover. Some lacing sticks.

The smell is of banana/clove and wheat tang. Very banana-ish and aromatic.

The taste is of banana/clove with a subtle toffeeish background. Wheat tang with a hint of bubblegum present. Nice, appropriate yeast strain here. It has a sweetish, crisp, clean, refreshing finish.

Light-bodied, with a bit of fizz. Crisp.

I was pleasantly surprized at this one. Well-done. I could see getting an occassional 6-pack of this in the summer...but, it's only available in the variety pack, as far as I know (I might be wrong).

Appearance- Served from a bottle from the michelob sampler pack. The bottle doesn't look that great but it does have a nice pour instruction on the neck for those who aren't sure of the correct pour. My pour, although done correctly, gave a very low amount of head which really let me down.

Smell- This is where the beer started it's downward decent. I couldn't get over the overpowering banana smell from this brew that permeated every sense I could throw at it.

Taste- Similarly to smell, this brew was beer bananas for me and nothing else complex. I wouldn't mind to see a hint of banana but it was all upfront for me.

Mouthfeel- The carbonation on mine was a little lower than I would have liked to see. I feel a bit more would have helped even out the banana.

Drinkability- I have to give this one a major pass as I plan to never drink one again. I respect those who enjoy this beer, but for me, it wasn't my cup of tea.

Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a pint glass, semi-translucent orange-hued yellow with a thin top of white fizzy foam that quickly settles to a light ring of thin lace. Aroma is spicy and sweet, yeast, clove, earthy undertones of banana and grain. Taste is very much of the same, wheat/yeast flavors, light spiciness that comes and goes quickly, finishes clean without aftertaste, slightly dry. Mouthfeel is a little rough, lighter body with moderate carbonation levels. Drinkability is good, easily the high point of this brew, goes down easy and is refreshing. Nothing wrong with it, just nothing special at all, very basic brew.

12oz bottle poured into a weizen glass. Pulled from the Michelob Lagers and Ales seasonal pack.

A - Bronze coloration with a golden-orange hue. Produced a nice frothy head which displayed good retention. There was even noticeable lacing! Unexpected yet pleasant.

S - Pretty nice aroma of banana and clove. I swear there are even slight hints of vanilla in there. Slight bit of grain finishes it off. Not bad at all.

T - Nice blend of sweetness and spices. Clove, banana, lemon, and even a bit of malt shine through. Wheat accents finish what seems to be a pretty authentic rendition of a traditional hefe. I am impressed.

M - Here is the low point of the brew I must say, it contains far too much carbonation. Thin bodied and a bit watery as well. A hint of spice remains in the aftertaste.

D - Pretty decent, I enjoyed this one and wouldn't have any quarrels with having another. Definitely worth a try, especially for those who don't believe the big boys can make good brews.

Pours a cloudy gold.
Great smell, hops, malt, banana and clove.
Delicious. Very sweet but still has character. All the smells come through.
Feels nice in the mouth. Smooth carbonation.
Quite drinkable, maybe a little too sweet but otherwise a surprisingly complex and tasty beer.

$10.99 12 pack of Michelob specialty brews is a great deal. This is probably my favorite.

Pours yellow with a solid if quickly dying head. Nothing exceptional, but nice enough.

Smells of cloves, light white pepper, and strongly of spicy belgian yeast. Nothing Bavarian about this--but it's darn good.

Tastes very much like it smells. A good kick of spice followed by a smooth, lightly burny Belgiany yeast. Very nice. Wow

What the hell? This is a very solid example of the style--and from AB that's a damn shock.
