If this was any of the lesser Budweiser products, I'd call this the "drinking behind the dumpster from a brown paper bag" size of bottle (1 pint, 6 ounces). But, the TV ads promise that this is something more, so I won't call it that. Poured into an English pint glass.
Appearance: Even poured slowly to try and minimize the head, I still wound up with a three finger head that was the color and consistency of that foam that you squirt into your walls to insulate them. But it died down within a few minutes and left some nice lacing behind. The color is a very nice dark reddish amber with only a small amount of carbonation. A good start!
Smell: My first impression was of overripe bananas, which then become the smell of banana bread. Very faint hop aroma.
Taste: Malty sweet for just an instant, quickly followed by hop bitterness that transforms into an almost metallic, slightly sour flavor. I couldn't find a 'best by' date on the bottle, so I don't know whether this one is going south or if this just how it tastes.
Mouthfeel: Decent, not thick, somewhat velvety.
Drinkability: I had a hard time finishing this one (it was a big bottle). I really wanted to like this one, but I don't think I'll get it again anytime soon.
