I almost bought into the hype with this beer and if you compare it to budweiser or bud light then you might think the hype is true. My problem is, I tried this right after drinking some real microbrew ale.
This beer pours a pretty light amber color with a huge four finger head. There is significant lacing but that's about where the goodness comes to a screeching halt. Smell and mouthfeel are nil, insignificant. The taste is that of flavored water. Drinkability is low unless you are used to drinking PBR every night, this beer will have no affect on you.
Side note: It's quite obvious what's going on here. Anheiser Busch can't stand seeing their profit margins dwindle due to significant breweries like Sam Adams picking up steam. They figured they could throw in a few special ingredients, simplify the label, add a pop-cap and call it special and join the ranks. Absolute fail in my opinion. For the most part this stuff tastes bland, thin and looks like a cheap attempt to make something of value that is not. Stick to the budget redneck beer AB, leave us connoisseurs alone!
