Pours a 2 finger head with good retention and a brown color.
Smell is of dark wheat and banana phenols and cloves. It is not overpowering as in other brews, but is kept in check to provide complexity to the beer instead of dominating it.
There are phenols and cloveyness to balance this one out. However, there isn't much to it. There is some dark wheat and some caramel sweetness, but there isn't much flavor from these ingredients.
The mouthfeel is a bit watery as well. I don't get any crisp carbonation or much clinging to the palate.
This is a decent dunkel, I would have it again. It's not overly clovey and is well brewed, but I want more body and flavor.
