It actually resembles pumpkin in the color, a near-medium orange just darker than amber. It's moderately hazed and very bubbly for most of the time it's in the glass. The head shows about average retention after tapering out at about 3/4 finger. Lacing is spotty and likewise in average quantity.
There's quite a bit of spicing to this beer, lots of cinnamon and nutmeg, and slightly overdone but not terribly. It adds something to a fairly weak malts base, mostly caramel malts it seems, and there's a zesty tang to it also. Pumpkin flesh, or some something like it, seems to come in and out as well.
Spices and malts start it out before it goes extremely grainy and a little tinny. There's almost something leafy and perfumey (hops?), but the way they work in this beer is more competitive than anything. As the malts thin out and fall off, it's a little too thin in flavor and tangy.
The feel is, not surprisingly, somewhat too thin, and the graininess contributes to an uncleanness on the palate. It has some substance, to be sure, and the crispness adds something to it. Beside that, it's not too far from smooth either. Still, stronger malts and a cleaner feel would be beneficial.
