12oz brown bottle with no freshness date.

LOOK: Hazed amber

SMELL: Dusty spice, pancake batter, pumpkin.

TASTE: Wet, lighter body, light malt, bready, spice, faint pumpkin, clean alcohol, grainy.

Sort of like a one colored jigsaw puzzle, all the pieces are there and fit but there isn't much to it. The spice, pumpkin and beeriness just don't wow nor landing equally drinkable.

Appearance: 1 inch head, orange-brown in color, cloudy, medium carbonation

Smell: pumpkin spice

Taste: nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, caramel, a touch of wheat or grain, and pumpkin spice

Mouthfeel: sweet, high carbonation, light bodied

Overall: Better than I expected. A sessionable, wheaty, and solid pumpkin beer. I could have a six on a fall day. Nothing outstanding, and there are better pumpkin beers out there, but nothing to pass up either.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: Orange amber color with a thin white head that lingered, lots of carbonation.

Smell: Pumpkin spice and some citrus.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Smooth light to medium bodied. Taste was mostly bitter with a hint of citrus,

Overall: Not a really good Pumpkin Ale, but it is easy to drink.

12oz twist off bottle at fridge temp poured into a snifter.

pours out a very cloudy deep copper orange color with a nice 2 fingers of head off the pour that settles to a nice retentive layer. some lace. looks pretty much what i imagined a pumpkin wheat to look like.

the aroma started out somewhat promising, with some pumpkin, cinnamon, and spice, but it got pretty bland pretty quick with kind of a bland smelling malt/ grain mixing things up.

follows the aroma, a little pumpkin and fall spice, very slight peppery spice with a grainy, bland malt, almost corn like.

finishes pretty light and somewhat watery. over carbonated as well.

this is pretty much a light pumpkin ale, didnt really get any witbier like flavors out of it. about on par with what i expected. something i would definatly avoid in the future. tastes like a decent pumpkin ale mixed with bud.

Bottle (2012)

Thanks for the gift, Alucard4!

Clear orange and amber without much of a head to speak of. This leaves thin ribbons of off-white bubble lace down the glass.

The aroma is actually quite nice, with good amounts of cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and mild pumpkin character. Some bread and caramel as well.

The flavor falls of significantly from the aroma, however. There simply isn't a lot here except some very mild spice and plain wheat bread. There's a touch of a metallic note as well.

Thin to moderate in body with medium carbonation.

Better than anticipated, but I anticipated it to the awful.

A slightly hazed orange tinted copper hue with a light tan head fizzy and dwindling quickly, by the way no lacing left behind on my glass in this one. This one is abrasive with pumpkin pie spices almost a sugar coated cinnamon, nutmeg, all spice pumpkin pie kick going on. Is there a wheat beer in there somewhere I'm sure there is but where? Pumpkin pie spice massive loads of residual sugar, first off you must like these "pumpkin" beers to begin with, and secondly I tend to like the ones with actual pumpkin flesh (the gourd) not just the pie spices. Mouthfeel is medium to light bodied a bit cloying with residual sugars and loads of pie spices. Definitely not the worse but by far something I'm going to be reaching for anytime soon, quit jumping on bandwagons and marketing trends and make some honestly good beer next time.

The aroma is quite spicy: but with a closer sniff, there is also a fairly good pumpkin aroma and a hint of malt. The spice complement is a bit atypical; it has some of the things usually found in pumpkin pie or pumpkin ales, like nutmeg and cinnamon, but doesn't taste like the typical mix of pumpkin pie spices. Also a bit lemony.

Mouthfeel: thin and watery, but with good carbonation.

O - Beer #1 in a Halloween eve Pumpkin tasting session. This one is over-spiced, particularly in the room-filling aroma. "Tastes like Halloween" says a fellow tester.

Typically looking pumpkin beer with an orange cloudy hazy amber hue.

Aroma was more mild in strength, spice, and even pumpkin than most pumpkin beers though the pumpkin was there and that was nice.

The beer did taste of real pumpkin in the beer with lesser spiciness though the pumpkin was not over whelming. The texture was a little watery or wet with some carbonation. I generally prefer lower carbonation, but pumpkin beer demands a little higher pumpkin to bring on the refreshing richness that I think makes pumpkin brews so nice.

I compared this beer to another pumpkin ale St. Ambroise Pumpkin Ale. St A is much darker and and more aromatic with pumpkin, while Shock has that sour like smell with a nice hint of pumpkin. When comparing I find that Shock has a nice hi carbonated blend of the sour wheat flavors with a mild pumpkin hint. The pumpkin mellows Shocks sour wheat flavor. I thinks, boy, this might be a nice summer blend of flavors. Though the St. A huge smooth pumpkin flavors just buries Shock otherwise. However, the comparison leaves me with a better appreciate the Shock Pumpkin beer.

Shock is a nice pumpkin beer for a hot day thirst quencher. Thumb up. I recommend it with a little hesitation. I don't think it will shock you, but you may have have a pleasant time drinking this beer. This beer is really meant to drank to some mellow rock from the 70s. You know Steely Dan Aja, Fleetwood Mac, or "Hello It's Me" by Todd Rundgren.

I don't care who makes this beer. If it is a good beer I am going drink it.

Color: it is a golden amber look to it.

Smell: you can smell the pumpkin and nutnegg.

Taste and mouthfeel: I love how you can taste everthing. It is very drinkable. Nice and smooth and well balance. I don't know if this is a wheat pumpkin. I can't really taste the wheat.

This ia a beer to get into crafts and pumpkin ales. Cheers!
