Notes/Commercial Description:
Our Pumpkin Wheat seasonal offering combines the smooth taste of Shock Top with the flavors of Fall. We start with a traditional Belgian-style wheat ale and then brew with ripe pumpkins and a variety of autumnal spices, including nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves, for a refreshingly smooth beer that fully captures all the flavors of fall.

Bottle poured into imperial pint

A: Cloudy orange gold with a quickly fading head. Nice lacing around the rim

S: Not particularly strong, a bit musty. Immediate pumpkin note, a little fruit, some grain

T: Definite pumpkin, some cinnamon notes, definite grain taste, almost lager-ish in prominence, some fruit notes here and there. Very sweet, almost no bitterness.

M: Very light, not highly carbonated (just a little tickle on the roof of your mouth), thick, or oily. Again, almost lager-ish.

Watch out: this one's drinkable. I picked up a case for $20 in the dead of February. Score! It's a nice little beer, especially for the price. Not sure I'd buy it in season. Pumpkin is the new bacon of the internet come every fall. Pumpkin coffee. Pumpkin beer. Pumpkin steak. Pumpkin underwear. People gotta get over the gourd.

But in this beer I like it fine. Good on, ya, Anheuser Busch!

12oz bottle into a pint glass.

Pours a clear dark orange with a fizzy one finger head. Just ok head retention but absolutely no lacing to speak of.

Aroma of pumpkin pie spice along with overripe fruit. Lots of cinnamon and nutmeg. It is not especially strong, however.

Flavor is full of nutmeg and cinnamon and has an almost artificial quality about it that I am not a fan of. A decent amount of sweetness pervades with just the slightest hint of bitterness. Carbonation is way high and a little bit distracting.

Overall, this beer has an artificial feel surrounding it from the aroma, to the flavor, to the mouthfeel. One thing going for it is that it is quite refreshing when ice cold but that is about the only positive thing I can say. Not a beer I plan on having again.

A - Moderate copper with a two finger slightly off white. Left great lacing.

S - Cloves, banana esters, wheat, slightl pumpkin far off in the distance.

T - Pie crust, pumpkin, cinnamon in it's slightest form, small amounts of cloves. Clean and non-artifical .

M - Medium slightly creamy body with some heavily stinging carbonation.

O - Overall, a good pumpkin beer. Loads better that Blue Moons attempt.
