Consumed 2/1/13

Born on 06JAN13

Appearance: Crystal clear, light amber with gold highlights - low carbonation, which is odd considering this is a Budweiser permutation - small, white head that fades to a few wisps of a cap, leaves a few dots of lacing

Smell: Grains and sweetness, much like the standard Budweiser, aka the "King of Beers," aka "Bud Heavy" - a faint hint of toasted grain that barely smells intentional - corn and rice-like adjunct aromas - sugar, and an unexpected ester scent that really smells like bananas - other than that, very clean, mostly devoid of aroma

Taste: Bland, grainy, but easy to drink - sweet and vaguely toasted grain, adjunct flavors including something that kind of tastes like sugary malt syrup - some grassy bitterness - corn husk - sugary sweetness - seltzer water with artificial sweetener added - not particularly offensive, though

Mouthfeel: Medium body, smooth, with a sticky, weird finish

Overall: Where's your crown, King Nothing?

Sometimes I feel that the vast majority of BA has an unjustified hatred for AB Inbev. But then I drink a beer like this. This basically tastes like Budweiser with a slightly different malt profile. It's not a complete mess (I've definitely had far worse beers), but it's sub-par on every level. It's like giving a crappy car a fancy paint job. At its core, this tastes more or less like Budweiser. But thanks to marketing, poor unfortunate souls (and me) pay more money for this. At least Bud Light Platinum (BL NUMZ!) has the novelty of being a mainstream, light malt liquor. This is just a more expensive Budweiser.

I see that Budweiser is trying their hand once again at another variation. I'll keep an open mind.

Pours what appears to be more of a gold than amber with a thin head and what appears to be ample carbonation.

Sweet with that industrial "accent" that greets you from most Budweiser variants. Beechwood-finished? Hmm, that sounds too familiar.

Sweeter and blander than Budweiser itself. What was the point of this? I don't taste much beyond the standard dreck.

A-B/InBev could learn a thing or two from Coors, especially Batch 19, Blue Moon, etc. This variant isn't interesting enough to warrant further attention.

A: Poured a dark gold color had a very small whitish head with no lacing

S: Some bread a bit of hoppiness strong corn and rice scents

T: Drinkable and similar to the smell it still has strong rice and corn notes and a slight bud platinum sweetness

M:One of the better aspects bubbly but not over done with a medium body and pretty smooth

O: this beer is ok if it were to replace regular bud i would be fine with that but as a competitor to high end beers or micro brews it does not fair as well. at the same price, at least in my area, as beers that are of much better quality i dont see much of an incentive to buy this again

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass

A- pours a clear golden copper, a few bubbles trickle to the surface, about a one finger fluffy white head, no lacing

S- very sweet, grainy, bready biscuit malt, smells like any other AB product

T- pretty much like the nose, very bready and grainy, sweet, there is a little bit of a nutty flavor here but nothing pronounced, tastes like a slightly nuttier version of Platinum

M- light body, fairly high carbonation, no noticable alcohol burn, no aftertaste

O- this is another lackluster product from AB, there's nothing that really sets this apart from other mass produced products, not offensive but nothing worth noting, wouldn't buy again

From sixteen ounce can , indecipherable " born on" date.

Aroma of grassy grains. Pours clear amber orange with large white head. Head retention is poor, flattening out to an oily film in about 45 seconds. No lacing.
Taste, nasty! DRAIN POUR!! I.E. sour sweet and astringent at the same time. I could only force myself to one more mouthful in order to review!
Like the slogan said, " When you say Budweiser, you've said it all!"
Now I know why it was on sale for $1 a can!

Pours a clean, clear golden amber, as promised on the bottle. Solid head of fine off-white carbonation, which subsides quickly, leaving no lace.

Nose is yeasty and grainy. Not bad, just pretty well generic.

Taste is sweet and mild, with almost no hop bite whatsoever. There are some toasty caramel and toffee tones, and even a hint of fruit. I get a really sweet finish, too, which kind of kills my enjoyment. Body is watery and light.

I've had much worse beers before, but this isn't one I'd return to, given the choices.

A: Slight golden amber color

S: Sweet grains maybe little hints of apricot. But mostly sweet grains.

T: The taste a little mild caramel malt notes, little pineapple hints as well at that apricot and finishes with a very light simi dry hop/nutty finish.

M: very carbonated :T i feel like i have to really mush around the favor to find it

O: Overall its a decent beer. now as for its tittle as a "Golden amber" eh almost there i feel like it needed to be a lot of hops added and more of the caramel malts to be very more dominated. But i have to admit the hidden alcohol (over load of the sugars) is very well played. It a step up of their regular Budweiser but came a bit short. if you want to be impressed with a domestic beer try coors "Batch 19" those guys killed it

A - Pours clear yellow with a large frothy white head and loads of carbonation bubbles. Leaves no lacing.

S - Wood, Bready malts, slightly ricey.

T - Predominantly bready up front, followed by a small amount of wood. That's about it.

M - Medium bodied with medium carbonation.

O - Overall, It was an improvement over it's Project 12 counter-part, but that isn't saying a whole lot.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass

Appearance – Pours a medium amber color with a two finger yellow tinted head. The head fades over about a 3 min time frame to leave only a trace of lacing on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma was light with it consisting of mainly some corn aromas. With this smell is a light aroma of caramel as well some biscuit.

Taste – The taste starts out with a rather strong corn taste with some notes of a bready nature mixed within. Flavors of a light caramel sweetness as well as a light herbal and woody taste. At the end some rather flavors of a paper and some boozy tastes come to the tongue leaving a slightly bitter, alcohol and bready flavor to be left on the tongue.

Mouthfeel –The body of the beer was on the medium to slightly above medium side in terms of its thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is on the average side. The brew may have actually been better with a lighter body as the thickness seemed to accentuate the more off flavors that come to the tongue at the end.

Overall – It was rather like a malt, but not a great malt and more expensive and less effective than the average. If you want a Bud, stick with the regular or the American and pass on this.

This beer is the "platinum" version of "Bud Heavy". Some advertisement claimed this beer to have won a competition between Budweiser brewers. This cannot be possible. It exists to pump a little more alcohol into regular Budweiser. I'm sure the drunks will buy it at least.

Saw the commercials for this and had to try it. The beer had a nice color and a small short lived head when poured. Not a lot of smell, nothing unpleasant. This beer was malty without any hoppy bitterness . It felt nice in the mouth when drinking with just a slight aftertaste. I really didn't find anything I liked or disliked about it. It was not real flavorful overall . Probably wouldn't purchase again

Dull soft malt. Watery. A little more bold than standard Am. lagers.
One inch white cap covers a dark gold to amber clear body with some action.
A grainy malt character with a notable drying finish. Some hop flavors that blend adequately initially, but eventually become not very enjoyable. Spritzy and abundant carbonation which is big enough to prevent any apparent smoothness and provides a filling quality.
I like Fortune better than this. This may have a touch of age on it with an Apr 14 date on bottom of can (best by or canning date?). Either way I don't find the flavors all that pleasing putting it towards the bottom of lawn mower beers for me.

12 oz brown bottle "Born on: 1/4/13

Appearance: Pours a very clear golden amber. Thin quickly dissipating white head. Not much lacing.

Aroma: Some sweet biscuity malt, Grains.

Taste: Somewhat sweet lager. Biscuity malt and toasted grains come through. Not much else.

Mouthfeel: A bit shy of medium bodied. Good, not overly carbonated. Smooth.

1.49/bottle at Total Wine. Had to try it. Not the worst AB product I've ever had.

Appearance - golden with a better than average white head that lasts for a respectable amount of time for a beer like this

Smell - very grainy and earth odors

Taste - extremely grainy with a sweet note to it. Overall profile of flavors is weak and not too pleasant

Mouthfeel - finishes clean with moderate carbination

Excellent idea following the platinum, but could use some more noticeable flavors to improve the beer

Born on March 11:

Pours amber with little head and virtually no lacing.

The smell is of caramel with a grainy hint.

The taste is sweet - caramelish. There is a hint of vague fruitiness, but it mixes with a touch of soap that throws it off. There is a touch of alcohol that is a bit raw. A hint of bland hops try to balance the sweetness.

It has medium carbonation. Fairly crisp.

I don't care much for the hint of soap. A bit too sweet for me. Not a disaster, but not desirable. Glad I only bought the 6-pack.

I picked this up because it was new and cheap and whatever. Poured from a bottle.

The color was clear and golden and pretty. A light head that faded within one minute to lace.

The smell is light malt. Very light. I did not smell any hops.

For the rest of the review no reason to get too detailed. You know how you go to that wedding reception or graduation party at the Moose Lodge or American Legion Post and they have two dollar pitchers of Budweiser draft that has been in the keg for four months? Yep.

A slightly stronger, overaged Budweiser draft. Not Bud Lite, Bud.

Instead of $6 for 6, it should be $2 for a whole 32oz pitcher. With some pull off or scratch off lottery tickets. And cake on a Styrofoam plate.

12oz sample bottle poured into a plastic cup at work

A: An amber-yellow color. Bubbly. No head

S: Bread, yeast, mild hops. I smell something sweet as well

T: Same bread, yeast taste in most lagers. There is something sweet that I taste in the background but I can't make it out. Maybe cherry.

M: Medium body, bubbly but smooth.

Overall: It's decent. For an AAL, it's pretty good. Not something I will drink though as it doesn't really have any taste to me haha.

12oz bottle into SA perfect pint.

A: Pours a light caramel-golden with yellow highlights. A finger of short lived fizzy head faded into a thick and lasting collar.
S: Light notes of spicy hops, roasted grains and a kiss of caramel malts alongside peppery lager yeast.
T: More roasted and amber flavors than the original Bud. Toasted grains and adjuncts dominate with the peppery yeast and mild spicy hop extract. I get a hint of caramel as well. The finish is almost sour and the aftertaste is chemically and fake. Very off putting as it warms.
M: Fuller body, creamy mouthfeel, soft fluffy carbonation is pretty active. Drinks thicker than water but I’m still getting a strange sour bitterness.
O: I can see where they were going with this but I thought it was pretty gross. Given the choice I’d rather drink normal Bud. Not worth the money.
