12 oz bottle poured into a mug at slightly-warmer-than-fridge temperature.

L – Deep gold color with a 2-finger bubbly, white head that fades relatively quickly into a thin cap of fizzy bubbles on top of the beer. Some patchy lacing. Clear with lots of bubbles. I’d like to see a slightly darker color, but the head retention was actually better than I was expecting.

S – Caramel, grainy, and slightly bready malt with some corn. Smells similar to Budweiser but it certainly has more of a caramel presence.

T – Sweet caramel, toasted bread, and cereal, grainy malts along with some corn at mid-taste-to-finish. The taste is certainly muted but much better than I was expecting.

F – Light-bodied with lots of carbonation, a crisp and clean mouthfeel, and a mildly sweet and dry finish. The 6% ABV is completely unnoticeable.

O – This beer was much better than I was expecting and is really not bad at all. It’s lighter and more toned-down than good amber lagers, but I was expecting a lot less from AB InBev. It’s extraordinarily drinkable, especially at 6%, and very refreshing. For what it’s supposed to be, it’s actually quite good. I would definitely take this over other BMC offerings.

12oz bottle. Born on date Jan 4th 2013. Served in a pint glass

Appearance: Golden, not quite amber color with 2 fingers of a soapy white head. Head actually took a couple minutes to dissipate. The body is extremely clear.

Smell: Lots of cereal grain, slight sweetness, very faint hints of grassiness. There's also an artificial banana aroma as well. Almost like a banana candy.

Taste: Slight sweetness upfront that carries through to the finish. Overall flavor profile is weak, but what is there is dominated by the same cereal grain that was prominent in the nose. Underneath that there are weak notes of caramel, clean alcohol, hint of breadiness, and a slightly metallic taste in the finish.

Mouthfeel: Fuller end of light bodied. Medium carbonation. Finishes fairly clean.

Overall: I didn't try any of the other Project 12 beers, but if this is the winner, then apparently I didn't miss much. This beer isn't awful, and it is a step up from regular Bud and Bud Light, but that's the best thing I can say about it. I tried it once to satisfy my curiosity, I'd never get it again.

Appearance: Decent golden color, good foam, some lacing.

Smell: Sweet caramel, and not much else.

Taste: Sweet and mild, with no hop presence at all. There is nothing here to offend, but not much to taste either.

Mouthfeel: Lighter than expected, not much of an aftertaste.

The Verdict: Average. It’s affordable with a higher ABV than most macrobrews, making it an acceptable session beer I suppose. The alcohol may even sneak up on you given the light taste and mouthfeel.

FWIW, this was Batch 91406 from Bud’s Project 12 last fall. This was my review of 91406: An amber lager finished on beechwood chips. If you close your eyes and pay close attention, you can catch the hint of woodiness. Drinkable, with nothing to insult your palate.

Poured from the 12 oz bottle into a mug.

A: Looks pretty good. Solid amber color with an off white head that sticks around for a little while.

S: Pretty malty with a somewhat off note in the back that I can't really place. EDIT: Someone said bananas and that seems right. Weird.

T: Wow, wasn't expecting this from Budweiser. Really smooth and very malty with caramel (as advertised) as well as some toasty bread in the back there. Seems like it's going for a Fat Tire kind of profile. Nothing mind blowing but really solid. This is a good step for the big guys.

I hope they continue to step it up from here. I like this one actually.

Sampled last night on 11/9/14 but tried this about 2 years ago when it first came out. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured in to a vintage 'Budwesier' thumb-print goblet.

Pours a pretty reddish-copper amber in color with a very thin cap. Some spotyy lacing is seen when sipped. The aroma is mostly of roasted malts and grain with a very light hint of caramel also. The taste was pretty much the same but did leave a bitter aftertaste that lingered for awhile. Strange that I liked this brew less and less after each sip. Lighter bodied with good carbonation as is the norm for most Bud products. What did I like about this beer? The color and that is was gone finally.

Bud led a contest of all its brewers, and LA won. The result Black Crown Golden Amber Lager

If you want a bud the way it used to taste when you were a teen, this is your beer.

A Lovely golden amber for lager but a thin head, a little lacing.

S Nice Hop bouquet, light, subtle, and way more than red bud.

T Great tingle and finish. Carbonation medium, but gassy like all Buds.

M More body than reg bud, more alcohol, substantial. Bud Lite NOT.

Food match - great with lemony dishes, flounder and light fishes.

Must try it. If you're a lager drinker, you must try this. Must be tasted blind apparently from the knee jerk low reviews here.,
