341 mL bottle included in a mixed 12-pack from TBS; served slightly chilled. Branded as "Shock Top Crisp Apple" in Canada, but with identical logo/abv.

Pours a cloudy, opaque golden-yellow colour, which is about the look I'd expect from a wheat beer. Roughly one inch of frothy white head is initially seated atop, but it proceeds to fizzle out over the next couple of minutes, leaving behind a wide, foamy collar and a modest band of lace. Granny smith apple is the most prominent constituent of the aroma by a good margin, supplying it with a definitive green Jolly Rancher vibe. A little wheaty, with some honeycrisp apple and apple juice concentrate notes. Very saccharine on the nose; reminds me of a Somersby.

The flavour profile itself is much more well-moderated, though still nothing overtly exciting. Wheaty, grainy pale malt sweetness is promoted to a distinct contributor here, with a mixture of sweet honeycrisp apple and tart Granny Smith flavour rounding out the back end. Finishes relatively mild, with a hint of tartness and some appleskin dryness in the aftertaste. Light-bodied, with crisp carbonation levels that, despite prickling the tongue, result in a smooth, almost soft sort of mouthfeel.

Final Grade: 3.12, a C+. Shock Top Crisp Apple is far from the worst apple-flavoured beer I've ever had - in fact, it might actually be above average in that category. However, the usual "apple beer" caveat applies - why would I ever pick this over a craft cider? I cannot come up with any convincing responses to that query, but that's just me. Fans of the Shock Top portfolio should find this to be an agreeable, mellow-flavoured fruit beer that leans toward the sweet side. It's inoffensive, acceptable in a pinch, and not something that I have much interest in drinking repeatedly.

Another pleasant surprise from Shock Top. Liked the banana better, but found the apple refreshing, sparkling and fun. Not everything has to be a "great beer of rich complexity", which is a happy discovery.

Based on its aroma, I was expecting a full-blown tart hard cider. It's actually much more mild, with a little bit of peach in there as well. It could stand to be a bit more flavorful, but it's fine for an apple based fruit beer.

Smells like straight up apple juice.

It tastes like cider initially, then it fades to cheap beer. I can't say it's terrible, because it does mix the cider and beer taste fairly well, but it's a far cry from real beer. The sweetness isn't overwhelming like it often is with cider. The spice aftertaste reminds me of a winter lager, but this is nowhere near as good.

I wouldn't buy it again, but I might recommend it to someone who likes cider.

Light color, definite apple smell, strong sweet apple taste, thin mouthfeel. Taste more like a wine cooler than a beer. If you like the taste of apple juice then this is the beer for you. I would prefer if it had hints to remind you of an apple, but still taste like beer.

I live in AZ so this is the perfect summer pool beer. The apple fruit flavor makes this very easy to drink and enjoyable. For what it is intended to be, it is great.

If you like artificial apple flavoring, this is your brew. Got this six pack for free as part of a special, but will definitely not be picking it up again.

From a pint can into a pint glass. Hazy honey color with visible sediment. Very thin head which fades quickly. Very thin cap and collar. Nose of honey and Apple as expected. Artificial flavor on nose. Mouth similar to taste, artificial and a bit too sweet. Mouthfeel is OK bubbly somewhat viscous. Overall drinkable but overly sweet.

Some things go great together, like peanut butter and jelly or peanut butter and chocolate. This is more like peanut butter and jelly Reese's cups, but the machine forgot the peanut butter.
To be honest the cider part was good but the beer messed it up and dragged it through the mud. I wouldn't recommend drinking this unless you enjoy disappointments.

Orange-gold, unfiltered body with no head.

Smells of those green apple Dumb-Dumbs that tellers in the drive through window of banks hand out. If you don't know what those taste like, then imagine a very sugary Granny Smith apple aroma.

Taste: grainy; sweet; green apples.

Mouthfeel: watery.

Finish: dry, crisp, refreshing.

Not quite as bad as I expected it to be (I expected horrible, I got merely bad). Still couldn't bring myself to finish it. The cloying smell was the worst part.

A: Golden and clear with a white half finger head. Thin lacing.

S: Sweet Apple. Fruity.

T: Tastes like candy apples! Very refreshing and sweet. No hop bitterness.

M: Light-bodied drink with medium carbonation. Tart and slightly dry.

O: Make a great summertime drink. Light and refreshing. Sweetness is not too overpowering. I would definitely try this again.

I picked this up after a recent meeting at work at my in-laws. It was all the beer they had, and although I didn't really want to drink it, I did want a brew, and did not want to come across as a beer snob. So I drank it.

Appearance - Pours a hazy amber color with a small head that dissipates rapidly and leaves little lacing. No real surprise with the packaging here, standard Shock Top fare.

Smell - Smells of apples, sugar, and little else.

Taste - Very similar to the nose. Tastes like a liquefied apple mixed with beer, certainly has a strong apple punch. There certainly is very little other than the apple flavor, although it is decent.

Mouthfeel - Finishes like every other Anheuser-Busch product you've pretty much ever drank.

Overall - If you like apples, you can drink one. I wouldn't turn it down if offered so I don't come across as a snob, but I would never buy it.

Poured into a Funky Buddha Brewery snifter. No readable freshness date.

A- Pours a hazy medium amber color with a 1/4 inch off-white head that retains a bit before becoming a thin ring around the edge of the glass and a tiny center patch of bubbly surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves a broken ring behind.

S- Jolly Rancher apple aroma with a bit of stale beer booze aroma on the backend that's not complementary.

T- The Jolly Rancher flavor continues and there's a macro adjunct beer flavor that accompanies it. Not good. Way too sweet and I don't detect any wheat.

M- Well, at least the "crisp" part of the name lives up to the feel. Medium carbonation and a light body.

O- This barely qualifies as beer. This is clearly marketed toward the college crowd looking for something sugary sweet to sip on that'll get them drunk. What sucks is I can't even cook with the remainder of the beer in my glass I don't want to drink because I can't think of any recipe that would call for candy apple flavored beer.

Found this in my fridge from a party back in may (eek). This tastes just like a jolly rancher candy. While I do love sweet girly beers this one is just not my thing. Will not be trying this again

This apple crips has a wonderful flavor. Can be drank year round. Awesome sitting next to a fire. Can be drank with meals or as an after dinner desert beverage.

Honestly, this beer just isn't for me, maybe it'd appeal more to someone else's palate but it just smelled sour and fermented(yes, I understand all beer is fermented), and tasted rank not quite sweet like a hard cider and not quite like a wheat beer, the concept just didn't work for me and my palate but hey maybe it'll work for yours.

This is a sweet enjoyable after dinner drink that a non serious beer drinker will find non offensive. It is apple wheat beer mixed with apple cider. It has a good taste that is true to the name. I found it to be a good easy drinker. While this is a good average beer do not compare it to a cider. I am a huge hard cider fan and this tastes nothing like Woodchuck Cider or another reputable hard cider product. Bottom line is that is just a sweet easy drinking average beer that is great for a group of non beer drinkers.

I'm sitting with someone who is drinking one, so I figured I'd take a sip and do a little review.

This isn't worth pouring into a glass, just drink it from the bottle. The nose is that of apple cider, that's it. Apples apples apples. The taste is the same, apples. That's about it. Sickening sweet. There is no way I could finish a whole bottle, I'm sick of it after three sips.

Bottom line, if you like cider, maybe you'll find it decent enough, but really......just no.

Poured into a shaker pint glass.

Look: The beer is the color of cider with a white head. Big chunks of sediment are swirling around, settling to the bottom. A few watery spots of lacing stay on the glass.

Aroma: Syrupy honey crisp apples, apple tart, cider, a slight hint of malts.

Taste: Definitely all apples, everywhere. Syrupy sweet and tart apple, some cinnamon. The finish has some barley or grains reminding me that this is in fact a beer.

Mouthfeel: Very thick and syrupy.

Overall: They got the apple tartness down, but it's brewed with cider and spices, and it tastes like it. Tastes a bit too much like those packages of instant cider that you add hot water to.

I've had this beer before but decided to pick up a sixer for review.

Appearance (3.75) : In my Miller pint glass, it pours just about three fingers of creamy white head. The body is a hazy golden color characteristic of wheat beers. Opacity is about 60%. Lacing is here and there in thick hoops.

Aroma (3.75) : Green Apple licorice, with some granny smith and faint apple candy (jolly rancher). Very fruity, very apple-y.

Taste (3.5) : The nucleus is sweet apple and wheat, a hint of pepper...but if I could draw a picture, with a circle around the nucleus it would be made of water. The flavor seems to be floating in the middle of a sea of water and carbonation...so distant, but still there. The more you drink it, the more your awareness of the taste grows. From the bottle it seems to be somewhat more direct.

Mouthfeel (3) : Watery, light, heavily carbonated. Lightly dry on the finish.

Overall (3.49) : A little more watery than I'd like. The flavor profile could be bolder but what's there is decent. There's sweet and sour apple, with a candy-like sweetness, again like a jolly rancher; and an undertone of wheat. Overall it's an easy drinking, tasty beer. There's never really a bad time for one exactly, but it's like all macros - they have their place but are not exceptional in any category. It's worth picking up a sixer for friends who are beer shy, they may like it.

A - Cloudy golden in color with a very thin head that dissipates quickly to a very thin lacing. Difficult to see carbonation. 3.5/5

S - very sweet and tart apple aroma. Every so slight graininess. 3.5/5

T - sweet and tart apple up front. grainy wheat middle with a grassy hop finish. no lingering bitterness. almost a shandy like beer. apple juice mixed with wheat beer profile. slight pepperiness. 3.75/5

M - Lightly carbonated. Finishes very dry. beer disappears entirely from the palate very quickly. smooth while on the tongue. 3.75/5

O - not my typical style choice but a good beer nonetheless. taste like apple juice or cider mixed with a wheat beer. 3.5/5

Pours an orangy cloudy colour with minimal head.

Smell is very sweet all apple.......some bready notes but mostly apple.

Taste is very crisp...apple is at the forefront but its more subdued than the smell would suggest. Tastes sweet almost pop like. Good for a hot day.

Mouthfeel is fine for the abv

Overall its not bad. Its nice to see a variation....obviously its not as good as lots of other wheats...but its not all bad.

Poured into a pint glass.

Appearance: Hazy golden, almost no head.

Smell: A lot of apple.

Taste: A lot more of apple. Very sweet. Not much wheat.

Feel: Super carbonated, feels acidic.

Overall: This might as well be an apple cider, very little wheat. Still taste and smells good. A nice change.
