A- Pours a medium copper brown in color and clear as the sky on a sunny day. About a 2-finger head forms and retains pretty well. The color of the head is slightly off-white, but not quite tan. Lacing is also pretty good. Looks like your standard red ale.

S- A fair dose of chocolate malt greets the nose right off the bat, but is quickly gone in favor of some metallic notes and some caramel malt flavors. Just a hint of brown sugar sweetness towards the end.

T- Starts off just like the smell, a brief hit of chocolate matls chased by caramel malt flavors. Moves towards a hint of floral hops taste toward the end, before lingering malt flavors return.

M- Light and highly carbonated; not your typical feel for a bock. Not a bad drinking beer. Reminds me more of a dark German beer, like a dunkel, than a bock.

Overall, not a bad option for a fairly easy drinking dark lager. Good flavors, good weight, good beer.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a shaker pint glass.

APPEARANCE: pours deep reddish/amber with less than 1 finger creamy off-white head that dissipated quickly leaving a ring of bubbles, higher than average carbonation and almost no lacing on the glass.

SMELL: toasted malt, sweet caramel and bread.

TASTE: the taste follows the nose, sweet caramel, toasted malt, a mild hop profile, the alcohol 6% is imperceptible, this is a malt forward beer to be sure.

PALATE: smooth and creamy with higher than average carbonation, finishes clean.

OVERALL: this is not a bad beer for the style but nothing special, I preferred the North Pacific Style Lager for this second edition of the Brewmaster's Project Twelve. Anheuser-Busch is moving in the right direction.

look: 3.5 | smell: 2.75 | taste: 3 | feel: 3.25 | overall: 3

Appearance - a promising pour, nice frothy manila head atop a fine-looking reddish caramel. The seems creamy and with legit body but begins falling apart quickly. Within a minute, it's a partial cover despite some spirited bead from below. The label says bock but the eye says amber.

Aroma - a glint of caramel malt, covered all too soon by blase grain. After a little setup time it resembles a basic macro lager.

Taste - sweet grains, Killians-like, a flash of toast to the malt. A notable alcohol presence supporting some caramel, but the body lacks depth. The start of a few different flavor elements here but not much development in any of them. Finishes clean, neat, a lingering note of the abv.

Mouthfeel - the bubbles are okay despite some slight interference picking out flavors. Decent weight and smoothness.

Overall - not bad, probably a stronger statement than the American Ale, but I can't see a side-by-side any time soon. I'd have it again, but not necessarily on purpose.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a 14 oz "pint" glass. Pours reddish amber with a nice white head that dissipates quickly. Smells of some fruit like berries and slight orange. Tastes of some fruit, mainly berries. Beer is easy drinking, light bodied, sessionable. Overall a slightly above average beer.

Pours a clear, dark copper color. 1/4 inch head of an off-white color. Slight retention and poor lacing. Smells of sweet malt, caramel malt, hops, and slight adjunct. Fits the style of an American Amber / Red Lager. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with a average carbonation level. Tastes of caramel malt, sweet malt, hint of pale male, hint of hops, hint of roasted malt, and slight adjunct. There is a particularly odd roasted, metallic, grass flavor in the finish. Overall, weak appearance and aroma, but slightly better body and blend. Still, I would not recommend this brew.
