A - A decent head but disappeared in no time. Unfortunately no sticky lacing. Murky, cloudy caramel body.

S - wheat, coriander, banana.

T - Banana, candied orange.

M - Quite buttery for a hefeweizen but a nice amount of zest too.

O - As a big fan of hefeweizens, I'm slightly disappointed but a very drinkable drop all the same.

This just came to Ontario for a summer release. Pours a cloudy orange colour with thick white head that dissipates to about a cm with some traces of lacing. Smells of mild banana with the wheat malt. Fairly sweet banana flavour, some spiciness in the aftertaste. Smooth enough mouthfeel for the style. A very decent hefe.

500ml bottle best before 07.11.

It pours a cloudy orange with a smooth, but mountiany white head that leaves a thick wall of lacing.

The smell is malty with a lot of wheat. It has a light lemony note over that and just a hint of clove.

The flavor is kind of uninteresting, it is wheaty with a bit of clove and sugar. There is a citrus characteristic but it just comes of as bland.

Overall a very mediocre Hefeweizen.

Bottle into Paulaner stein in low altitude Galway, Ireland. Bottle obtained at Aldi in Galway. Expectations are average.

A: Pours a cloudy hazy orange-gold. Typical hefeweizen fare. Three finger head of above average thickness, but lacking sufficient cream. Generally appealing, but not special.

Sm: Fresh wheat and hops. A bit of citrusy estery notes; though I suspect it's fairly low on hops compared to the typical hefeweizen. An appealing scent, but not a particularly strong one. So far, so good.

T: Citrusy esters - mainly orange, especially pronounced on the climax and finish. Mild cream on the open, unexpected but welcome. The body isn't as hoppy as it maybe ought to be, but it balances its wheat and hop notes nicely to comprise a well executed build for the style. Very nicely balanced. Complex enough, but not expertly crafted.

Mf: Overall, the mouthfeel is too light. It's just coarse enough. Certainly a refreshing beer, probably best enjoyed in the summertime.

Dr: Poundable and cheap by Irish standards (at least at Aldi). Very surprising for its price. It's not special, but it's a great beer to refresh and to intoxicate. Pour it into a stein or tall Erdinger-esque glass if its own branded glassware is unavailable.

According to the label, brewed on Nov. 11, 2010, and best by Nov. 11, 2011.

Appearance: Cloudy, yellow-orange color. A careful pour resulted in over two inches of dense, creamy, off-white foam. Left generous amounts of lacing.

Smell: Yeast, banana and wheat, with a touch of clove.

Taste: Wheat dominates the flavor profile, with plenty of yeast as well. The banana and clove that were in the nose are greatly subdued.

Mouthfeel: Plenty of body to like here. Finishes slightly sweet but also dry. Not a lot of carbonation, which is fine with me.

Overall: An enjoyable Hefeweizen. I will definitely have it again.

Served on-tap in branded weizen glass at 12 Apostles in Savignyplatz neighborhood of Berlin, Germany.

A: Creamy gold-yellow with tall 1-2 finger off-white head with nice retention and lacing down the glass.

S: Banana and clove are there but pretty light in comparison to others in the style. Herbal hopping is light.

T: The wheaty tanginess is more pronounced and melds well with the herbal hops and banana esters and clove components. It is an above-average weissbier but a very enjoyable brew enjoyed with friends.

M: Creamy and thick like the good examples of the style. Freshness no doubt helps in this category.

O: I liked this brew and it was a great accompaniment to great company to finish off a fantastic trip to Berlin.

A-GIANT, thick, sturdy head blows up and rises to 3+ fingers and stays up for a while. Really love how the head on this beer looks. The color is a beautiful, hazy rich golden orange.

S- The initial smell is hops, followed by light clove, yeast and some banana. Not very strong on any flavor, the smell is not very impressive.

T- A little malt up front. Bananas and some nice lemon-citrus. Also a good spice note at the end. I'm not one for putting fruit in beer, but I could see a lemon slice accenting this beer really well.

M- Smooth and creamy, really good.

D- Very drinkable. Smooth, tasty, solid.

A: Pours a cloudy bright yellow/orange with a two finger creamy white head. Settles to a creamy cap and leaves a little bit of thick lacing.

S: There's banana, spices and a yeasty aroma.

T: Mostly banana with some spices to it. Also a bit of a yeasty taste.

M: Medium carbonation with a medium body. Quite smooth.

D: I enjoyed this one but having one 500 ml bottle is enough. The taste eventually becomes too much. But overall still a decent beer for the style.

A: Extremely golden color. Haven't seen any beers as bright as this one. Murky and cloudy with little to no head.

S: The smell is of light banana, some clove, and some slight spice.

T: Flavors of banana, bubble gum and wheat along with some hints of clove are about all you find in this brew.

M: It feels light to medium bodied with high carbonation. Rather smooth though.

D: Thirst quenching and refreshing, as are most hefes in my opinion.

.5L, Germany, best by 6/11.

Great pour. Classic cloudy straw-orange, with a very healthy head. I got it to tower a half-inch above the glass in it's creamy glory. Good lacing, but a few clumps of yeast prevent a perfect score for appearance.

Nose is muffled, but there're hints of yeast, band-aids and ripe fruit.

Flavor is, unfortunately, not very good. Hefeweizens are supposed be lightly sweet and fruity, yet this beer has a bitter and medicinal quality. Bready, yeasty flavors are apparent, but there's no banana or fruit. Mouthfeel was well-carbonated, but the finish and feel were average due to the borderline harsh flavors.

Not a good Hefeweizen in my opinion. The appearance is classic, but the beer itself is disappointing.

Nice cloudy orange tint with some fluffy white head. Smell is wheaty yeasty and a little fruity. Taste is yeasty wheaty some floral and fruit hints and some warm spice after taste. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and slight effervescent. Drinkability is great. A possible session beer with my Heffe lover friends. Still, I miss the hops.

Pours a cloudy lemon yellow with whipped cream head that clings to the edges of the glass with trailers. Wax, clove and deep honey-banana sweetness on the nose. Banana creme pie/banoffi malts, then mild nutmeg, lemongrass, and soft mint hops. Soft, creamy, round, a touch thin.

Not the most complex or challenging, but better for it - creamy body and mild flavor makes this an easy-drinker for a night out or to go with food. Fills a niche for a sessionable weiss.

Bottle BB 10/06/2011 poured into a tall wheat beer glass.

A: Pale yellow and not very cloudy at all. Nice lacing though.
S: Light banana and clove atop a bit of raw wheat
T: Thin and light flavours, mainly of banana though a bit of clove played through. A bit of chewy wheat came though
M: Viscous and gummy. The only enjoyable thing of this beer
D: Mouthfeel saves this one, though it is nothing special.

WOW.
What a great hefeweizen from germany!
I was a huge Paulaner Hefe Weizen naturrub before this beer. I liked this Schofferhofer alot more because it does not taste as heavy ( fruity ) and it has a very crisp clean finish to it.
With the right pour in a freshly rinsed 500ml Weizen glass( very important ) this beer goes an amazingly long way. Its one of the least expensive Wheat Brews we have here in Winnipeg and it honestly can be called better than the others.
It does not lack the taste such as the more expensive erdinger weissbier ( HELLES )

Now to the beer
Like i said it has the perfect mix of fruit and yeast taste, not overpowering in any way.
A very nice fluffy white head and a very light orange colour.
Smell.... Delicious.
This beer is easily a great for the summertime with barbecues or just hot days in general. Pair this beer with a lovely Weisswurst and you can't go wrong. I guarantee it!

Also A little tip on pouring a hefe weizen - Put the glass overtop the bottle, flip then slowly pull the bottle outside the glass as the beer slowly flows in. DO THIS SLOWLY or it will overfoam and you will make a mess. Youtube this before you do it and practice makes perfect!
Cheers!!!

Pours a hazy golden colour with a white head, not much retention, and minimal lacing. Watery taste with not a lot going on save a bit of yeast, there is an aroma of banana and clove, with a slight metallic aftertaste. Coats the mouth and pallet and hangs around in your mouth. I have a feeling that this beer might be different had this been on tap in Germany, but as it is, a beer that is not bad, just okay.

Had this one several times before, but never had a chance to review it.
Pours a honey-amber apricot color. Good murkiness, medium carbonation.Nice head, creamy, thick, settles leaving lots of lacing. Nice looking Hefe.
Smell is a bit dissapointing. Light sour fruit, orange, yeast and tart citrus, but overall quite watery. The depth of banana-clove-funky/tartness found in better examples simply is not there.
Flavor is tarter than expected. Sour orange, grain, almost a butter-milk like sourness. Reminds me a bit of cider. Again, overall finishes a peppery and carbonated, but a bit weak and watered down.
The tart finish is nice, but the overall weakness of the beer, especially when Weihenstephan is the same price, will prevent me from buying this one again in the future. Decent, but nothing special.

Nice beer, not great but quite nice. Poured with a decent, fine, foamy, white head that never quite disappeared and some lace. Color is a hazy medium amber. Aroma is like standard Bavarian hefe weizen: spice, citrus, grain, malt, fruit, yeast. Flavor is like aroma with a little sweetness coming out through the sip. Body is good and so is carbonation. Finish is like flavor and has good length. Easy drinking beer. Session.

A: Cloudy light orange-colored with an enormous white thick compact creamy head. Extremly slow dissipation leaves very rich lacings and a nice crater.

S: Wheat, ripe bananas. Some sweet malt. Spices and yeast together with citric notes.

T: A nice balance between the sweet and the spice. Ripe bananas, not to sweet. Wheat. Citric notes and perhaps some bitterhops.

M: Aftertaste is surprisingly long, sweet at first and then bitter. Body is light and carbonation is moderate. Refreshing.

D: A nice Hefeweizen that's a bit drier than others. Not bad, not bad at all.

500ml bottle poured into an Erdinger weiss glass. First review in quite a while!

Pours a hazy yellow-orange colour, nearly opaque with sediment. Medium-low carbonation evident in the glass, and the massive creamy three-finger Hefe head that I expected to see. Aroma is a bit flat. The typical banana-clove aromas are there to be sure but muted and a bit deader than expected.

The flavour profile is muted as well. This is a very light-tasting hefeweizen. A slight touch of lemon sourness greets the tongue, then moves on to a watery mess that has the typical hefe flavours but muddled and nearly indistinguishable. Watery and light in the mouth with a medium-low carbonation that does little for the beer because it doesn't even mask the fact that this is a bit of a mess. Drinkability is high on a hot summer day, but there is many a hefe I would buy before this one.

Poured from a half-litre bottle into a small pilsner glass.

A: Pours a hazy, dull yellow with a beige tinge. Thick frothy head dissipates quickly. *Lots* of bubbles.

S: Smells of sour yeast with lighter notes of wheat and faint, faint clove.

T: Better than expected! Heavily carbonated wheatiness supported by much lighter spice. A pretty standard hefeweizen. The anticipated banana flavour was barely present...until I burped. Aftertaste is light and enjoyable.

M: Carbonated and light. Initial sharpness diminishes into a watery-smooth flavour.

D: A very drinkable wheat beer. Pretty good, but nothing special.

Having this in Hamburg right this second.

Apperearance - typical cloudy weizen

Smell: light & airy, nothing bad bu nothing stands out either a little citrus, maybe hints of other, but hard to detect

Taste - again, light & airy, nothing overwhelms or surprises your. Nothing tastes bad, but nothing tastes exceptionally good. Nice malt finish though.

Mouthfeel: The one negative I find while drinking is a flat taste on the palate. Despite lots of "lace", no effervescence feel on the tongue.

Drinkability: One could down this like water. Probably very refreshing on a hot day, but its not hot right now in Hamburg.

Poured from a 50cl bottle into a 50cl tall glass.

A - Very cloudy dark golden colour. About a finger of head.

S - Banana, pear and peach. Slightly tangy.

T - Fairly smooth at first but with a bitter and slightly sour aftertaste following very closely. Soothing on the way down. Typical wheat and various fruits in the taste.

M - Quite bitey on the tongue. Bitter and sour at the back of the mouth.

D - Enjoyable and fairly easy to drink.

A solid wheat beer if not mind-blowing. Has enough variety to keep you interested but isn't overly complex so can be consumed without any trouble.
