It doesn't look like a beer at all, smells just like what it is half hefeweizen and half grapefruit juice. You can only taste the hefeweizen a little bit but it comes thru just enough and blends well with the grapefruit, it goes down smooth and doesn't have too much carbonation like other sweet beers.

Poured a very hazy yellow with a slight hint of pink. Aroma is sweet grapefruit and Belgian yeast. Flavor is grapefruit flesh, fruity hefeweizen style flavors, Belgian yeast. Incredibly refreshing; basically closer to a delicious grapefruit radler.

Excellent for a grapefruit drink. But I wanted a beer.

I'd buy it again but I'm not happy with this recent surge of ABV% Root Beers and whatever, and this "drink" is far more grapefruit drink than Weizen or any kind of legitimate beer. I'm surprised that these new styles even make it onto beeradvocate.com, the Bros banned ciders and the likes of Strongbow years ago.

A = looks like a carbonated soda with some foamy head.

S = smells like a carbonated grapefruit soda.

T = tastes like a carbonated grapefruit soda.

F = has a slight alum bite along with some minor bitters.

O = great for what it is.

Purchased at the LCBO for around the $2.20 mark or so for a 473ml can. Served at 4deg C in a draught glass.

A- Opens well and pours a 1" high white head that films out within a minute or two. Nice medium orange colour and unfiltered.

S- Nice grapefruit here. Citrus galore

T- Grapefruit and citrus. Nice and sweet but tart. Nice lightness going down

M- Sweet and sticky. Tough to get through on a hot summer day

O- Nice brew but I see it being difficult to get down on a hot summer's day. The sweetness would get on you fast.

Food Pairing

This nice little hybrid went well with..... Fruit cocktail!

Enjoy

Draft pour in a pint glass at Chuck's in Darien, Illinois (only).
Hazy, but bright, orange body with no head.

Grapefruit is obvious on the nose as well as the taste. Nice, but is it beer? I say no. Some bread in the flavor as well.
Mouthfeel is clean and light, but creamy, and the finish is dry and sweet.
I want this refresher between the front lawn and the back lawn on a hot summer day.

Interesting and a nice surprise. Different at first taste, but very good and one you will want again. Make sure to swirl the bottom as you pour, or you will be missing out. Give it a try, you will enjoy it.

Having trouble thinking of this as a beer (seems like more of a "beer cooler"), but if you think this would interest you, it likely will. Seems like a very refreshing choice for a summer party, and the low alcohol content makes it very versatile for serving occasions. Hm, on second taste, I think there should be more products like this, but with appropriate flavoring (grapefruit being quite appropriate).

A: Cloudy orange color, 1/2 inch white fluffy head, dissipates quickly, no lacing

S: Big grapefruit, maybe a little classic yeast spiciness shinning through

T: Sweet grapefruit citrus taste with a little of the classic grapefruit bitterness, a bit of the hefeweizen yeast spiciness comes in the middle of the taste, bitter grapefruit aftertaste

M: Light to medium

O: The first time I had this was at the Wine and Dine festival at Epcot and absolutely loved it. Found it in a 6 pack of bottles in a liquor store after a quick trip to Disney recently. Not quite as good out of the bottle but still probably the best fruit/beer paring I've had to date.

Very surprised by just how good this is. Grapefruit is a surprisingly solid choice for a fruit beer. A nice, albeit mild, level of citrus, and flavor that almost kind of comes across as tangerine. It doesn't come with the tartness that is generally associated with grapefruit.

I would group this in the beer-like drink area.

Drank straight from the can. It's very refreshing and tastes good. Not sweet or cloying, pretty strongly carbonated. All grapefruit and light-bodied malt. Low alcohol.

Good for what it is. No sense in penalizing it for what it isn't.

I love grapefruits and had to try this beer even though at first thought it sounded kind of gross. The fact that it comes from a German brewery gave it enough legitimacy that I got the 4-pack of 16-ounce cans. I like it! There's really no beer taste to it but the grapefruit taste is real and it's not cloying like a soda. As a Floridian I have plenty of hot days where this beer definitely hits the spot. And at 3.2% ABV I can have my fill without staggering around the yard!

Poured a cloudy golden body with three fingers of thick, bubbly white head that stuck around, slowly lingering to a thick cap of white foam. Overall impression of appearance is of a Hefeweizen in body, with a head that while similar to a Hefeweizen, is also a bit more bubbly. Scents of grapefruit juice, with just the slightest hint of malt. Overall impression of aroma is of a typical grapefruit radler, refreshing and fruity. Flavor begins with the flavor of a grapefruit soda, albeit a very good one, matin a restrained sweetness that is lower than that typical to a standard soda. Middle continues these flavors. Finish continues grapefruit flavors and is sweet at the end, with just a touch of sweet malt and some discernible banana esters and clove phenols from the Hefeweizen. Aftertaste is grainy, cracker-like wheat malt, grapefruit peel and clove phenols. Overall impression of flavor is of a crisp, refreshing radler with a restrained sweetness and a good amount of the Hefeweizen on display. Mouthfeel is light bodied with high, effervescent carbonation and a crisp feel. Overall impression of mouthfeel is of a good radler, combining the soda-like qualities with the Hefeweizen. Overall this is a good, refreshing summer beer, as is traditional. It doesn't have the full complement of flavors of a Hefeweizen, but the flavors are present enough that this is more than a soda. The restraint in the sweetness is a good choice, as it allows the beer to avoid being cloying. Fairly well done commercial example of a radler.

Soda? Wine cooler? Spritzer? Cocktail? One could be forgiven for confusing this for any of the above. But, judged on its own as a cool refreshing treat, its Enjoyable.

In the end the sweetness and soft drink like character will earn the ire if most beer snobs.

Best by end of 2016/09:

Pours clouded grapefruit-colored, as seen through the clear bottle. A fluffy white head lasts. Trailing lace slowly slides down the glass with some stickage.

The smell is of grapefruit juice.

The taste is of grapefruit juice. A malt character adds smoothness and some pleasant sweetness. Very refreshing with a crisp, clean finish. Very smooth.

An easy-drinking grapefruit malt beverage. A nice choice for something light with a pleasant grapefruit character and low alcohol. A very refreshing brew!

For some background, I favour wine over beer, pale over dark, and fruity sours over anything hoppy. From that perspective, this is a fantastic drink. It's one of the most refreshing beverages I can think of on a hot summer day after nine hours of work and goes great with food. It's just a touch too sweet for my personal tastes (hence the 4), and cloying in the texture (hence the 3.5) - it's almost somewhere between blood orange juice and a grapefruit soda. But hey, I like both of those, so this is still the drink for me.

Yes the alcohol content is disappointing but overall the look, smell and taste are really suprisingly good. Very refreshing tasty summer beer, will buy again (and might see how it mixes with a half a shot of vodka)

This is a lovely tasting fruit beer. I'm a fruit beer lover. It's borderline creepy. Preferably the sweeter the better. But I can also respect the other side of the spectrum where beers have a more subtle fruit flavoring.
I am often left disappointed when a beer claims to have a fruit flavor to only receive a negligible watered down fruity after taste. This beer falls right in the middle of sweet and fruity vs. tasteless and watered down.
The grapefruit flavor tastes like true grapefruit. It did not appear artificial to me and I eat grapefruit regularly. The bready undertones are perfectly noticeable without being overbearing and properly support the rest of the beer. I'm actually surprised how well the grapefruit blends together with the wheat. The flavors are well balanced and are a surprisingly good pairing.
The main reason this beer has a lower rating than I would like to give is the lack of abv. A case of this is not overly expensive but it is more than what I would expect to pay for such a weak beer. 2.5% abv is perfect for a tailgate or party but for the price it costs per case, this is not a good value.

This, however, is perfect for people who pretend to like beer. I'm looking at you mom.

Not sure why they bother calling this a Hefeweizen. A grapefruit soda with some alcohol is more appropriate. Refreshing but not really as a beer. I can see a picnic full of non beer drinkers going nuts for this.

Received this in care package from a buddy whose wife told him to include one of those "grandma beers." Noted the abv on the bottle read 2.5%! Once I saw that I knew it would be a sweet drink. It's a very bright orange color. Pretty, but not much foam which would have really made it over the top in appearance. Aroma is straight up grapefruit juice. Flavor is pretty much what I expected - sweetened grapefruit juice, oranges, and some grain. The fruit flavoring is a little limp and artificial, but it isn't bad. Aftertaste lingers for a long while. Feel is like drinking an orange soda with half the carbonation. Really, this is just something for slamming after mowing the yard on a very hot day. Better than I thought it would be. I wonder what it would be like all hopped up and at about 7% abv?

Crests near one finger of pure white foam, even surface, minimal retention, the lacing is wispy and likewise does not last very long. As expected, the liquid is super cloudy, a dark yellow to light orange in hue, a few lazy bubbles can be seen here and there, does a good job of capturing light inside it. Pure grapefruit nose, dripping juicy sweetness to the left and right, maybe a few yeast or lees like notes, leads you to believe there’s some spicy or earthy elements crushed below all the citrus, has very nice life and lingers well. In the mouth it’s medium-bodied, has the extra zip in the carbonation to keep its legs moving on the treadmill and keep the overall experience fresh. While the dominant flavor is sweeter pink grapefruit there are also moments of more tart white grapefruit to lemon going on, especially right after you swallow. Likewise, possesses a honeyed edge which ratchets the sweetness right back up. Sure, it’s a one trick pony but it makes no claims to anything otherwise. The low alcohol makes it more sessionable but even on the hottest days you’d be tired with it after two or three, tops.

It is refreshing, but a bit too sweet for me. Very low alcohol, as traditional in the German radlers, but could stand to have more of an alcohol bite to cut through the cloying sweetness.

Of the legitimate German radlers that I've sampled, I have to admit that this might be my favourite--even if it skews a bit sweeter and a bit more grapefruit-y than others, and even if a lot of my affection probably stems from misguided sentimentality after having spent a week in a very hot, summery Berlin.
