So, this place isn't for everybody... as the reviews show. Its tiny, very hipster, and the menu, both of beer and food, is small. If you like places like this, then it is very good, if you don't, well the wait (and there is going to be a wait) probably isn't worth it. As I said, the place is tiny and I think we were lucky to be seated at the bar as we seemed to have more space than most of the people with tables. The service was friendly and quick, even though they were busy, our waitress/bartender took the time to answer some quick questions about the menu. And about the menu, its small. Sandwiches (but pretty fancy ones) and various sides, maybe some salads and about six beers on tap. What they lack in size, however, they make up for in quality. The beer selection was good (though nothing to set geek beards fluttering, but good), local, and it was matched quite well to the sort of food they serve. The sandwiches were interesting and very good, and the poutine was easily the best I've had outside of Montreal. Overall a very worthwhile stop, I would go out of my was to go there again if I were to find myself in Portland.

This is a very small place with a long line already formed at 11:20 a.m. The food is superb--a knock off of traditional bar food.

There's about six beer on tap, all of them local and hard to find outside of Maine. All different styles including a Saison.

AMAZING food! Draft list is comparable with most Portland spots as they offer tons of local options. Usually a decent wait around lunch or dinner (especially on the weekends) but it is worth any wait!

I had a quick lunch here with my parents that had read about the place's reviews on other sites. I sat at the bar and waited for my parents to arrive. Service was immediate and friendly. The place was packed for lunch and the bar was a bit crowded. My parents arrived and we were sat outside. The menu was small but they did have specials to accompany it. I had a Brussels sprout salad that was lightly drizzled with a champagne vinaigrette. My parents each chose a panini. The food was wonderful and a solid lunch. We drank local rising tide bottled beer. The bill was a but high for the portion size, but the experience was worth another visit.

A bit of a wait, but it was well worth it for a beer loving foodie such as myself.
Duckfat is a slightly overcrowded pseudo-Belgian gastropub located near the base of Munjoy hill in Portland, ME. There was a healthy lunch crowd waiting for both tables and takeout, but we managed to get a group of 8 stuffed inside with only a 15 minute wait. The staff was both nice and helpful while we were left to drink our beers and water out of Ball mason jars.
The beer selection was modest at best and there were only three local draught brews available ($6-7/ 12oz pour). I went with a saison from Oxbow (very tasty) which paired excellently with my pork belly panini and duck frites. The highlight was probably their pickles, which didn't soak in your typical brine (housemade?).
The place reminds me of the Blue Monk (Buffalo, NY), but is different is so many ways. Their panini pricing was all under $10 (with the duck confit their only exception), and they were all outstanding. Their salad special was also outstanding (fiddleheads asparagus and a wild ramp vinegarette.
Duckfat is definitely worth your time and money and I would personally recommend parking your car street-side (no meters along this stretch of middle street) and walking off the calories along the water/ up promenade st.
