Shiny black with hues of ruby and brown and a soft tan blanket.
The nose is laden with sharp, metallic, piney hops, like a Brillo pad, with hints of soy sauce and banana skin. There is barely any chocolate, and no coffee.
Taste is piney chocolate and coffee, unfortunately still leaning metallic, iron-like, with dry cocoa, and banana skin. Meh, the bottle may have been too old, but I've had plenty of aged coffee stouts that were really good. This was in the fridge the whole time.
Feel is moderately thin, lightly fizzy and dry.

22oz bottle poured into a snifter.
A: Pitch black pour. Light brown head eventually settled out. Spotty lacing.
S: Fudge and brownie batter. Jerky. Coffee notes come at an even keel, bringing nutty and berry-like scents. Plum and dark fruit.
T: Fudgey, brownie batter, bitter dark chocolate. Coffee is nutty, smokey, and berry-like. Jerky. Smoke. Plum and other vague dark fruit. Bruised fruit and caramelized sugar. Solventy alcohol starts to creep in. Little bit boozy on the finish.
M: Thick body, full mouthfeel. Sticky and coating. Low prickling carbonation.
O: Kinda middle of the pack, if that. Coffee addition is not great and it gets a little boozy. Not really one I'd give a second look.

22 ounce bottle into snifter, best before 9/17/2016. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense and fluffy tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of nutty medium roast coffee, chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, and toasted dark bread; with lighter notes of vanilla, smoke, licorice, dark fruit, and roast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, light fruity yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of nutty medium roast coffee, chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, and toasted dark bread; with lighter notes of vanilla, smoke, licorice, dark fruit, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/floral hop and roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of nutty coffee, chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, toasted dark bread, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, light fruity yeast flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from roast bitterness as well. Light carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy, and lightly chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a very nice imperial coffee stout. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, light fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Catch up from last night's RIS tasting. Inky black pour supports small beige head. Coffee present, but not up front, nor hiding in the background. Right in the middle, Blends well with the roast grains, overall decent imperial stout.

This beer pours as a dark black beer with a very thin head that disapates quickly. Smells of a sweet chocolate and strong coffee. Tastes like it smells. Mouth fill a bit thin with light carbonation.
My overall impression of this imperial coffee stout I liked it overall the coffee notes were a bit over powering. Seemed a bit thin in the mouth feel. But still a satisfying imperial coffee stout.
