Poured on tap into a snifter.

Real watery pale body on appearance. Washed out lemon yellow color and cloudy, with a faint creamed off white head.

Nose is ridiculously hop forward. Huge notes of pineapple and tropical juice. Some hints of spice herbal hop quality, and some minor wine aromatics, but the over pumped no traditional hops over run, and this smells more like Hawaiian fruit punch than beer, and a real ridiculous one at that.

Palate comes forward with hardly any malt or bready backbone. Mid palate and aftertaste awashes in tropical fruit and a real wet chalky body. Huge amounts of club soda carbonation, giving a real papery crispness, almost touching hot pepper, and exaggerating the minerality. Very light but ridiculously aggressive.

So where's the bakery malt and fruity ester wine like goodness on this? This comes off nothing more than an overly hopped up brew trying to mask a bunch of faults, and if there is a Kolsch in here somewhere I sure as heck can't find it. It's alright on a hop angle, but very misplaced and clashing.

Great hoppy kolsh, probably the most well done beer here

L: dark golden, hazy, fluffy white head that lingers in a thin layer. S: hops, green banana, guava. T: very hop forward, green banana, some tropical fruit, nice flavor in the mouth, but a long lingering bitterness that I don't care for here. F: excellent crispness, dry finish, but again, the finish is overly bitter.

Had it at Blue Jacket. From notes.

A - Light, light golden colour, cloudy with good carbonation. Two fingers of pillowy white head left good lace rings and a film of retention.

S - Passionafruit, grass, tropical fruit.

T - Lot's of light zesty tropical notes, passionfruit, grass, honey.

M - Nice medium body, very light bitterness, fairly strong carbonation.

O/D - Nice stuff. Nice and hoppy and quite light but complex enough to stay interesting and drinkable. Worth a shot.

I feel I will need to explain my ratings, and here it is: this is styled as a Kölsch, but is listed as a dry-hopped Kölsch. As such it is more like an IPL is to a standard lager. This works well for me, but might not work for someone expecting a normal Kölsch. My original flat rating was 4.25, although I thought that slightly high. For pure enjoyment, nose and taste would be rated .5 and .25 higher, respectively.

A: quite cloudy yellow, almost like a hefe. The head is nice, sustains, and clings to the glass as I enjoy it
S: considering the dry-hopping, not a surprise tis is strong; pine dominates the nose, more than even some IPAs I know. Style-wise, not sure tis fits, but I don't think this beer was trying to fit a style
T/M: a crisp and slightly effervescent start, but the piney hops notes come into play early and linger. The end taste is more dry and less refreshing than I personally expect from a Kölsch, but are quite enjoyable.
O: as an IPA fan, this Kölsch worked for me. Give it a try if you are a hops fan and might not otherwise try a "lighter" style.
