With the amount of IPAs brewed here in the States you’d think that there’s only one way to skin a cat. While the West Coast style has long dominated the style, there’s a world of IPAs you should explore, and Blitzkrieg Hops DIPA wouldn’t be a bad start. Blitzkrieg is a big, 9% ABV, juicy, earthy hopped English-style double IPA brewed entirely with English malts, hops, and fermented with an English ale yeast strain. Brewed with Maris Otter pale malt, and hopped with Admiral, Pilgrim, Phoenix, and Target hops; all big, juicy, high alpha English hops that we thought needed a lil’ love, each of which is over 10% alpha acid. Blitzkrieg Hops DIPA is our homage to the birthplace of the IPA as well as the band that inspired its name.

OG – 1.075
FG – 1.010
IBU – 98.0
SRM – 7.2

Base Malt – Maris Otter

16oz can poured into a Hopslam tulip

L: Pours a deeper orange, hazy, brighter golden edges. Big off-white head sticks around, and to the glass.

S: Decent, albeit standard, nose of pine needles, bitter citrus, and bready malts. At least it doesn't smell like a malt bomb, which is basically all I care about.

T: Now we're talking, this is tasty as hell. Lots of juicy tropical citrus fruits up front, I get a ton of ruby red grapefruit, then the malts step in to balance things out, remind you this is 9% ABV, and then boom - bitter beer face. No doubt this is a big, high IBU beer.

F: Maybe my favorite part of the beer, somewhere in between creamy, and lively. Perfect amount of carbonation, aka a flavor delivery machine.

O: Not sure what some others have been drinking, but I didn't find this boozy in the least. Can you tell it's 9%? Kind of, not all that much. It's actually a fairly easy to drink DIPA, and I will definitely seek this one out everytime it's released fresh. Really solid brew.

It's so nice to see the return of a good friend after too long. It appears this was last reviewed three years ago. It once was a go to. A pint can is emptied into a clear glass liter mug. The color is a beautiful copper-amber with a fluffy white head. There's some hoppy earthiness to smell. The glass lacing is enough, considering the high octane. The brewer's own review is very accurate. Other than the 9% AVB, which is barely noticeable, this is much like a typical English IPA. Its a very even balance between malts and hops, while being light on the tongue. Keeping it simple can often lead to some delightful results and this is a good example. Welcome back.

Well Thanks to @thebeers and The Ramones.
Crystal clear. Burnished golden hue sends silver bubbles upward to form a fluffy off-white head. The head quickly retreats leaving a subtle ring of bubbles. Very lite lacing.
Smell is dry earthy pine, hints of onion, and some peppery notes.
Flavor is pretty bitter upfront. Peppery pine, some pithy grapefruit comes through as well. Kinda dry on the bitter finish. Not a wallflower. Kind of assertive. Honest. I like it.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, carbonation plays a part for the whole ride.
Overall, this is a good one when you're in the mood for an aggressive older style West Coast IPA.

Poured into a snifter. A slightly hazy golden-amber color with a frothy off-white head. Decent retention in the glass. I was surprised by the potent aroma right from the can - floral, citrus, and some earthy pine with faint bready malt. Really liked the taste - clean and very bitter with big floral and piney notes, balanced with a bit of citrus. The malt was present as expected but restrained and no caramel notes or sweetness. Dry and clean with well-hidden ABV.

Clear gold, highly effervescent, with three-plus fingers of airy, antique white head. Spare, soapy lacing. Green onion and tea-like malt in the nose. Slightly nutty tasting with more tea, a little pine and strong hop bitterness. Just a hint of caramel sweetness shines through in the aftertaste. Medium bodied, a touch syrupy, with strong carbonation. A very bitter take on an English-style beer.

This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was basically a hazy burnt orange color with a slim finger’s worth of white foaminess that dissipated within less than twenty seconds. Light lacing rims the glass delicately. The smell had some sweet onion, light pine, a little bit of grapefruit and a gracing of lemon rind. As it warms, a gentle touch of a delicate spice reveals itself nicely. The taste was balanced finely between the sweet and the bitter, delicately delivering a fine spice to balance. A really nice combined bittersweet citrus aftertaste leads into a semi-dry finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation seemed good for the style and brings out a nice big bitterness rolling over my tongue. Overall, the can says an English styled Double IPA, not exactly sure what that means but this was a really nice offering from Neshaminy Creek that I would love to have again.

Very nice IPA. Sampled a small amount from my father-in-law’s pint. On tap at Uno’s. Very citrusy in the nose and the taste. A hint of hairspray late, but not too bad."

Served 38F from the 16 ounce can into a 16 ounce snifter. No canning date. No idea when this launched or was brewed, or weather or not it was shipped cold. I purchased at Joe Canal's, room temp, off the shelf.

Really nice color. Bright juicy orange. Slight chill haze.

The nose is really unpleasant here. Earthy, dirty, and stale hops and malts.

This is a really bad tasting IPA. The only reason I gave it 3 is because I know the reputation of the brewery and I feel bad about giving them such a low score. But make no mistake. This tastes terrible. The most prevalent taste is ethyl alcohol. The blitzkrieg hops must be an acquired taste because they do not belong in this beer. They are so bitter and abrasive. I taste no malts in the dipa. Just dirty earthy abrasive hops, and very strong ethyl alcohol.

While pouring this I noticed large yeast particulates flowing, and floating into my glass. Not a good sign. And again the mouthfeel of this ale is horrible because of the overpowering taste of alcohol and the crazy abrasiveness of the hops.

A little rough edged, definitely English, dont need this much ABV. Try 1.

A: Hazed beautiful orange body, that laces well, and is a distinct tiger orange. Bravo.

S: Aroma offers fruitiness, apple, oranges and hay notes. Spicy herbal hops w fresh baked bread and sun-dried grass/hay.

T: Flavor follows smell and is ample. Opens a caramelized toasted grain with honey and spicy hopping. Complex segments of pine, honeyed flavored alcohol, flower shop, and grapefruit.

M: Definite alcohol glow. Full bodied, caramel and pine, sticky ending.

O: This grew on me. Slight dank, good seesaw of biscuit grain and complex hops, sticky. Complex.
