Amber in color with a honey yellow hue. Slight chill haze at first pour but cleared beautifully in a few minutes. Poured with a thick white foam that reduced to a healthy cap and left rings of wet sticky lacings on the glass. Earthy, grainy, toasted malt with sweet caramel malt and earthy hops in the background. Medium bodied with a pleasantly smooth, delicate feel. Fresh, clean, toasted and caramel malt flavors throughout with earth, herbal flavors emerging through the middle to the end. Finished crisply and cleanly with a pleasant herbal tanginess followed by a sour bread aftertaste. Crisp, clean, drinkable and refreshing.

Served on tap in a pint glass

Appearance – The beer is served a clear orange-amber color with a small head of off-white color. The head fades very fast, leaving only a trace of lace on the sides of the glass and a persistent foam on the surface of the brew.

Smell – The aroma of surprisingly strong with a big toasted bready smell mixed with a moderately strong caramel sweetness. Along with these aromas are some lighter hints of some lighter fruits as well as a bit of grass and grapefruit hop.

Taste – The taste begins with the sweet caramel and the toasted bready taste that were detected in the nose. These two flavors create a base for the beer lasting throughout the entire taste. Some lighter fruit flavors of apple develop more toward the middle of the taste. This apple is very light, but is accompanied by a moderate grainy taste. Some grass and grapefruit hop flavors later come to the tongue at the end, combining with the rest to produce a lightly hopped, sweeter bready taste to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thinner to average side with a carbonation level that is rather average. Overall the feel was pretty good as it matched well the sweeter caramel and fruit flavors of the brew in its more light feel, all while not being too thin or highly carbonation to support bready and hopped flavors of the brew.

Overall – A rather refreshing and quite flavorful lager. Very drinkable.

I wasn't to sure on the style. I'm just going by the color amber with golden highlights and that it's a lager hence the style American Amber/ Red Lager. Also I'm not sure if this is a year round yet or not but it is brewed for the Churchville Inn and recently started on tap at the brewery.

No B.S. probably the best all around looking lager I've head. Amazing head retention, two fingered eggshelled colored heading. Amber in color with golden highlights. Amazing lacing that leaves ringlets throughout the tasting.

Nothing too big with the nose. Toasted malt, sweet caramel and a touch of medicinal hops.

Though not that much different the nose everything just seems to come full force. Caramel malt backbone with an awesome toasty flavor. Slight sting on the palate in the finish of medicinal hops.

Balanced almost perfect maybe a little on the chewy side. Medium to Full bodied. Excellent carbonation.

Overall I am very impressed. Extremely tasty. I recently had Brooklyn Lager which is rated very high for this style and I most say Churchville Lager is every bit better in all aspects. It has the looks, the taste , the body and just that overall enjoyiness. A must try. This could possibly be NCBC's best beer to date !
