Honestly, not a fan of wits. This is no exception. Small head, light, color. Smells as sour and almost skunky. I have had a number of beers from this brewery and one of my favorites. This, however, is not a beer for me.

Color is mid.y coloudy and light.

Taste s sour and generally unpleasant to me, but fans of wits may like this.

Feels crisp, not heavy, but medium.

Overall, as mentioned not a beer for me.

Finger worth of bright white foam, dazzling, fairly even surface, retention is so-so, retention is about what you’d expect, same for the lacing, wispy and thin streaks. Shiny golden liquid, too darker than expected while perfectly clear, the bubbles are widely spread but active. Taut, grainy nose, pretzel dough, salt and pepper, something smells “adjuncty,” the mango is not faint, however, woven into the whole rather than the soloist, mild mandarin orange notes, overall has a sour vinous quality, not exactly offputting but does tend to push against you. Medium-bodied, much smoother in the mouth, clove spice, white pepper, cracked wheat and sour orange to lemon citrus imbue it with good energy. Corn syrup, molasses accents sweeten the mid-palate and extend textural presence. As in the nose the mango is faint and there as much by power of suggestion as immediate flavor. Maybe some apple or peach in supplement, at moments suggests banana. Good drinkability, just can’t help feeling a little disappointed based solely on what you thought you were getting rather than what you got.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass.

L: Clear light golden pour with 3 fingers of foamy white head. Falls fast... solid rim of lacing. A good bit of yeast sediment.

S: Citrus and mango... smells almost like a mango candy.

T/F: Light grains... mild wheat. Strong presence of mango puree... mild citrus. Mild hops for bittering/balance. The finish is more mango juice. Somewhat sweet. Light in body... zesty carbonation.

O: Not terrible... pretty 1-dimensional, but if you like mango this isn't bad. Would make a solid pool/summer beer. Not interesting enough to re-visit. Kinda enjoyed the 'Wedding Crashers' reference. Your girlfriend that doesn't like beer... she'll probably drink this.

This was poured into a mug. The appearance was a hazy burnt yellow color with a light semi-transparent color. Super light streams of carbonation are seen rising to fill no head. The smell starts off with a sharp sweet mango rolling into some clementine and bringing about a crisp wet pine underneath to slightly balance. Light honey also plays a nice part as well. The taste was mainly sweet through the citrus and mango. Honey comes back nicely. Sweet citrus aftertaste runs into a sweet wet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a clear sessionability about it. The carbonation seemed barely there and allowed the wheat part to impart the harshness. Overall, though a bit under in the yeast and wheat part, in my opinion, if there was such a thing as a session witbier, well Evil Genius pulled it off. I’d have again on a hot day.

Nice hazy medium orange look to this brew with a slight white head from tap. If a had to pick a scent out of this beer I'd call it dank but the issue is that the mango mixes with the wheat in such a way that its close to cat piss (comments heard from others trying this brew). I called it "melon sweetness with some bitterness" at first on the flavor not knowing it was a mango beer. Its got an interesting flavor my friend Marty called "not bad". Mouth feel is pretty thin with just the slightest bitterness to the finish.

On tap at the Yard House, it pours gold with a white foamy head that looked as much like and IPA as it did a witbier, then it faded and left minimal lacing. Smell had the strange combo of wheat and fruit and the nose seemed like mango and apricot. Taste was not as good as the aroma, but it washed down my very spicy jambalaya quite well. It was worth a shot but not one I'd revisit.
