I was in the beer section at Wegmans the other day and realized I hadn't really thought about rating them before so I saw some guys working and decided to chat. They were great guys with some good knowledge if they don't know your answer they do their best to get you an answer. I asked them about their beer selection and they said a lot was dictated down from their corporate office but they do their best to get the latest and greatest beer. They said they are also working with the pub and distributors to get a better selection on tap and to get things like hopslam and GI burbon county. So shout out to those guys at the wegmans in KOP thanks for your time. And thanks for a great selection and great price range!!

I've never reviewed Wegmans K.O.P.? How can that be? I guess it doesn't really matter though as I'm sure all of the reviews are basically the same.

They've got a very good selection but you won't find anything crazy - it's a big market, not a specialty beer store. They've got plenty of room temperature bottles, six-packs, and even cases; as well as a wide variety of cold six-packs and about 12 feet of single bottle shelving to choose from. They offer a mix your own six-pack for $11.99, and the selection is usually pretty good. I should note, however, that most of what they sell is domestic - you're not going to find a lot of Belgians here, or much of anything from the rest of the world either. The saving grace to that is that the prices are pretty good. In comparison to my local specialty beer shop (which won't be named because I've already skewered them in their own review) Wegmans is a steal!

Service for me doesn't matter, but unfortunately for anyone looking for it, this is where Wegmans fails. Unless someone who works with the beer just happens to be there you're completely out of luck with special questions or requests, and to be honest, even at that point you'll probably know more than they do. Make contact with them, however, and the "beer guys" will do whatever they can to help you out. Just inquire at customer service and they'll put you in touch.

As they "kind of" offer food, I should also mention that. There's a kind-of buffet that they've got set up where you can buy many different types of food for $8.99 per pound. My family has had it before and we found it OK, mainly loading up on the asian-style items. It was fun to pick what we wanted, and nice to be able to try a great variety of stuff, but in the end the food was stuff that had been sitting out in hot trays and just didn't seem worth the cost. All told, we could probably have gone to a restaurant and had better food, served fresh, for less.

Final note: pretty much all of the Wegmans in the area sell the same stuff. I haven't found much variation, but I should also point out that they do change things up pretty regularly and always bring in a fair amount of seasonal stuff.

A - Its a grocery store with a "pub" in it. Nice concept, but provides a rather stale atmosphere while sitting at the bar.

Q/S/S - Their food and beer selection is all good quality, and a step up from the Malvern location with seemingly more bottled seasonal and one-off releases available. Similar to other Wegman's in the area, they don't get all or many of the super limited release stuff, but they do have a great selection from American and world wide breweries.

Overall, its a nice store with a good selection. Better then the Downingtown location since it has a huge refrigerated section, wider aisles, and a pub. The food at the bar is average at best.

I think this may be one of the best Wegmans bottle shops I have been to. The atmosphere and quality are about the same as all of the others. The service at this particular location is very good. They are always close by and have a decent amount of beer knowledge, enough to answer almost every question asked to them when I was there.

Selection is just like the other Wegmans I have been to, and then some. I found a Founders Bolt Cutter recently which was a bit of a surprise, it was even a decent price. They also have been known to have 1-2 Russian Rivers available, mainly Damnation. Prices are pretty good as well, more than reasonable for that area and this state in general. Overall a very nice option that I will return to in the future.

New Wegmans? Why, of course I had to hit this up this past weekend. Very easy access to the store right off the turnpike, but the parking lot is a disaster. Lots of awful angles and islands. Anyway, the store itself was jammed since it's very new. The lighting in the beer area is a lot more subtle than other Wegmans I've been in, and I appreciated that. There were a few employees wandering around the beer section helping people, and they actually sounded relatively well-educated about the products, which stunned me. The selection seemed more robust than other Wegmans I've been into, with all of the macro swill shoved into a cooler in the corner, with the rest being dedicated to craft. The chilled six/12 packs are actually in coolers with doors, something I haven't seen before at Wegmans, and is something I appreciate. Prices were standard, but I noticed when purchasing my first Goose Island sixers ever in PA that they were a little pricey at 10.49 each...is that normal? Checked dates on some stuff, and everything was within three weeks...very good. Staff at the checkout was friendly and plentiful, but again...first weekend. I'm definitely going to be back here.
