Bottle: Poured a clear dark color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of green citrusy hops with light piney notes. Taste is dominated by light citrus notes with some good piney notes and some medium roasted malt notes. Body is bit light for style with good carbonation. Great beer with more focus on the hops profile than the roasted malt side.

Poured from a bomber into a stemmed tulip glass and shared with a friend.

Poured a dark brown, black color with 2+ fingers of bubbly tannish head, decent retention and lace. The nose is roasted malt, maybe a bit of chocolate or espresso and some spicy and a bit of dry citrus. The taste follows suit and leads with the grain bill, roasted malt, biscuits and followed with hops drying out the palate. The hops are more dry bittering hops, not much of the citrus present. It is medium body and carbonation resulting a smooth beer. Overall, it is a decent, albeit, safe black IPA.

Poured from a 660ml bottle, no #freshbeer info.

Pours the color of root beer, 4 finger off white head that latches on pretty good with no signs of leaving. Aroma is roasted malt mixed with hops. Flavor though is ordinary, not much roasted flavor and the hops are not very aggressive. No coffee, chocolate flavors either. Considering the breweries involved and the stellar IPAs that brew, i expected more and this is a let down unfortunately.

Thanks to seblp for sending this as part of our Canbif box.

A: Pours out like a dark stiff coffee, slightly transparent with a ruddy shine. Head froths up 2 fingers of sand like foam that settles to a single layer.

S:Heavy toasted grains, deep malts, smoky wood and wet leaves. Slight hops on the back end but nothing overwhelming. Funky scent of old socks as the brew warmed. The over all scent is slightly mild and deeply toasted.

T: Deep toasted grains & acrid molasses, notably medicinal with a dry pithy hops at the back end. The hops linger on the tongue pithy and bitter.

M: Light to medium bodied, mild carbonation and strong hold on the after taste.

Bomber from Brouehaha QC for $7.99+

Appearance - Black/brown colour with a large size beige coloured head. There is an average amount of carbonation showing and there is some great lacing. The head lasted for around 4-5 minutes before it was gone.

Smell - Hops, chocolate/coffee, grapefruit, breads/grains

Taste & Mouth - There is an average amount of carbonation and I can taste chocolate, coffee, and malts. There is also apricot, grapefruit, and some hops.

Overall - One of my favourite styles of beer and this one is pretty well done. I was hoping for a little more flavour but that flavours that it does have are great. A little pricey but still well worth trying, especially if you like American black ales

A:
Pours a clear cola black with a big three fingers of creamy tan head that sloppily settles like a rock at a finger and a half. Great retention; good, gloppy lacing.

S:
Surprisingly bright and citrusy. Funky grass, lemon rind, some tea-like astringency, green pineapple, and an underlying nutty cereal aroma that is barely there (to my nose at least).

T:
Smooth and dryly hoppy. Blunt hop bitterness and a slight essence of citrus; the roasted elements come through well in giving it a little depth and a slight coffee twinge.

M:
Medium bodied with good carbonation and an easy drinking thin quality to it. It has a nice lingering, increasingly malty finish but otherwise is neither the best nor worst in this department.

O:
pretty decent take on a Black IPA.
I like beers from both of these breweries anyway and so I was already figuring that I would like it, it may not have exceeded my expectations but it is pretty solid. It pours lovely and has an really tropical nose for a QC IPA and even moreso for an ABA. In my opinion the intense citrus funk smells that hit you on talking a whiff comprise the most surprising and delightful part of this beer. It is a nice beer to drink and does a good job of using the maltiness of the roasted ingredients to give the beer a bit of body without dominating the flavor profile. However, I also could do with it having a more malt in the taste.
Would have again; worth getting ahold of.
