Another selection from Deadbolt82's box of QC. Thanks man!
Shared with Daftcaskbc. At least he didn't berate me for this one!! ;-P

Appearance. Pours a redish-cola with barely a skim of tan head. Light in colour for the style.

Smell. Sweet dark chocolate, roasted mixed nuts and some toasted dark malts. Smells good!

Taste. Very roasty and dry dark malts, bitter earthy hops, and a bit of cocoa powder adding a bit of sweetness. Dry finish.

Mouthfeel. Not quite medium body with medium carbonation. A little bit thin for the style.

Overall. Lots of flavour here which was a surprise after the misleading appearance. I would gladly drink it again.

Appearance: It has a nice jet black color to it. It has a nice thick beige head that dies down moderately and leaves some nice lacing.

Smell: The aromas definitely give out hints of sweet roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee and some nuttiness.

Taste: Like the aromas, it has some sweet roasted/toasty malts, dark chocolate, faint coffee and a nice nuttiness.

Mouthfeel: It has a medium carbonation with a nice overall balance and feel but not quite as full as I would of liked

Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied with decent flavors and aromas.

A: Pours a deep brown color with a tan colored head. The retention isn't really good as is the lacing. There is nothing special about how this beer looks except from the pretty cool bottle (from a Quebec beer perspective).

S: The smell is very faint, very little can be taken from it. There is the roasted notes of lightly roasted coffee beans and a little amount of sweetness. It has some semi sweet chocolate smell I can detect but that's pretty much it.

T: The taste is very solid though, lots of chocolate, light roasted coffee and maple syurp. You also get the distinctive taste from the oat. Very well balanced and easy to drink.

M: A bit too light bodied for the beer and the carbonation is too "big". By that, I mean that the bubbles feel a bit big on the tongue for something like this. Maybe another strand of yeast would have helped.

O: Well, this beer has a lot of things going on for it. Great taste, easy to drink, but the rest of its aspects aren't too impressive. Still, it is a recommendation from me.

Bottle picked up in Montreal last month. Pours a clear near-black with a creamy head that disappears quickly, but leaves an impressive amount of lacing. Warm aroma of roasted dark and chocolate malts with a nice oatmeal base. This is also beautifully presented in the taste, although the mouthfeel is thinner than expected given that robust oatmeal flavour. Well balanced journey through the roasted malt and porridge elements, with enough chocolate tones to be interesting and a nice bitterness that lingers within a roasted finish.

My third beer from this brewery and all have been excellent, so definitely one to put on my list to visit...

Bottle from Rapido a while back. From notes.

A - Poured deep amber with one finger of beige head that went quite fast. No lace and no retention.

S - Chocolate, a bit sour, milky.

T - Some funk, chocolate, roast, the funk faded and let in some chocolate notes and more sweetness later. Fairly plain.

M - Strong carbonation for the style, medium to full body and a slightly sour finish.

O/D - This was ordinary. I only got this because you saved a couple bucks if you got a certain number of Castor bottles, and honestly, this would've been worth skipping. A very pedestrian attempt at an oatmeal stout, especially for these guys. That mild sourness was also offputting.

Shared by Rutager.

A: Cola coloured liquid with slight tan head.

S: Nuts, chocolate, roasted malt and sugar.

T: Chocolate, coffee, toffee, roasted malt, grassy and earthy hops.

M: Thin viscosity and low carbonation.

O: Nice flavours, but it needs a better mouthfeel and appearance to compete.

Served from a 660ml bottle to a shaker.

A: A dark black with some ruby red highlights made apparent when pressed up against the light. One finger of head which died out into a ring rather quickly. Lacing was decent.

S: Aroma is subtle but still good. Sweet dark malts come through giving the aroma of heavily cooked raisin cookies.

T: Once again deeply roasted oatmeal raisin cookies are made apparent. Dark bakers chocolate is also around and is quiet present. Very slight coffee flavor. Has a homebrew like quality too it, perhaps because it's organic.

M: A little bit to dry for an oatmeal stout in my opinion. Carbonation is quiet prickly. A bit thin on the feel as well for an oatmeal stout.

O: Pretty decent beer. It could be sessionable at 5% and is rather tasty. The mouthfeel is a bit too off for me but I could still see myself picking it up again. Its good but I'll take St. Ambroise's oatmeal stout over this any day.
