On tap at the Brasserie St Bock in Montreal.

Pours a pale gold colour, bit of haze. Head is white, whispy, just thin trails of lace. Bit meh.

Loads of citrus and other fruit on the nose. Pulpy mango with a touch of pineapple and passionfruit. Sweet, refreshing aroma. Lots of substance to it too, in spite of the subtle, almost undetectble malt.

Taste is more of that citric character. Tangy from the get go with big fruity mango sweetness as well. Gets passion and pine midway before citric bitterness on the back. Lemon pith and grapefruit. Nice transition from sweet to bitter too, melds well. Nice IPA.

Sharp carbonation from start to finish. Quite fizzy and rough. Not enough body there and hops don't help.

Nice IPA overall though. Drinks fruity, but stays grounded.

App: Golden orange, frothy 2 fingers head dissipating into a thin coat leaving tons of lacing around the inside of the glass. Nice carbonation. Very lovely presentation.

Nose: Grapefruit, citrus rind, tangerine, pine, a bit of dankness, tropical fruits maybe a bit of pineaple and mango. Hops up front, the malts are very suddle, acting more like a canvas for the hops.

Taste: Grapefruit juice, tangerine, lime zest, a bit piney and earthy in the finish.

Solid West Coast Style IPA - Basicly everything you would expect. Nice balance between the fresh fruit and the green notes. Clean, crisp finish. This is right on the money. Truly one of the best IPA in Quebec at the moment. This brew met my expectations. Well done, Le Castor !

Quebecois IPA is great, starting with this one. Perfumey, grassy, wintery, northland.

A - White foam settles to a cap, a big ring of lace. Lightly hazed golden body.

S - Orange perfume in the right way, Northland meets West Coast IPA. Malt body, with candy notes of sugared zest and rind Malt backdrop supports the touch of sweetness, but remains in the background.

T - The taste follows the smell but is bigger, fressher and leaves that floral perfume, orange water feel in the long tangible, tangy finish.

M - Medium body, prickly carbonation, and a pleasant, long dry finish with lingering oily hop resins and flowers.

D - Is this the best Canadian IPA? Must try.

On tap at Vices and Versa. Served in a short pint.

Appearance - Clear orange body. Huge white head with great retention and beautiful lacing.

Smell - Citrus hops. Toasty malt. Bready and doughy smell.

Taste - Sweet orange citrus hops. Really nice. Light pale malt sweetness. Minimal bitterness.

Mouthfeel - Light. Creamy and low carbonation.

Overall - Impressive. American hops with and English malt and feel.

Purchased at Depanneur AS in Montreal for around the $5.00 mark or so for a 660ml bottle. Served at 4deg C in a draught glass

A- Opens well and pours a small 1/2" head that is gone in seconds. Medium gold colour and unfiltered.

S- Nice amount of hops on this one.

T- Both bittering and fruity hops. Good malt base but not that sweet. Has a good balance of hops to malt but not too overpowering. Touch bitter at the end but that is the blend of hops since it's a bit fruity at the beginning.

M- Not too thick or rich but has the dryness and tartness of a good IPA. Creamy at the front

O- Very good blend. Nice balance all around and worth having a few from time to time.

Food Pairing

This nice little brew went well with....... Schezwan stir fry. Traditionally hot but that gets moved around by this hoppy brew.

Enjoy

Cheers for the big Canadian want, Tom!! Pours a nice hazy honey gold with a finger of frothy white head. Pretty dank nose with cedar, light malts, pine and citrus. Sweet light malts and plenty of delicious, well rounded hops leaning to the west coast. Medium+ body, medium-low carbonation. Great stuff.

Bottle: Poured a slightly hazy golden color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of grapefruit and resinous hoppy notes is quite intense with nice floral notes. Taste is dominated by citrus and resinous hoppy notes with floral undertones with dry malt base and some bitterness at the end. Body is about average with great carbonation. Quite an impressive beer with great hops punch and citrus notes while limiting the bitterness level.
