Yes, our very first brew. Pre-prohibition Cream Ale and Steam Beer hybrid. It’s a session ale brewed with barley, maize, and wheat.

Perhaps I learned the hard way the cream ale is NOT my thing. My girlfriend who hates beer did NOT like this either. Her Father was an alcoholic and she has had a LOT of pain. This was part of my spice rack-style flight at the brewery. A guy at my work said this place was good. He DOES NOT know beer but he was right.

On tap at the brewery, quick review from written notes.
Served in a mini-nonic pint glass.

Lightly hazed straw gold, slowly rising trails of carbonation visible, a dense halo of drippy lacing forms and remains in the glass after the first few sips.

Earthy grain husks and light malt/maize sweetness in the aroma.

Smooth feel, light bodied, pleasant and simple flavors of grain and mild malt sweetness.
Very clean and sessionable, a simple beer with a broad appeal that makes a perfect pairing with ancho pork tacos, or any other foods on the menu. Hits all the style hallmarks perfectly. Simplicity is vastly underrated these days, and still misunderstood by the dilettantes...

On-tap at DryHop. Served in a 5oz taster glass.

A - Looks like the pale ale, but perhaps a shade lighter in body. Similar solid retention, but with less lacing.

S - Pils malt and earthy, spicy, noble hopping. Very lager-esque, with bread, and a touch of buttered biscuit sweetness.

T - Taste is somewhat understated. Bready, crackery, with some lingering lower moderate earthy hop bitterness. Wouldn't have guessed there was maize in the malt bill. Not much yeast presence; probably would have guessed Steam beer here.

M - Crisp, clean, lightly dry medium body, with good heavy for the listed 4.6%. Pleasant moderate carbonation.

D - Lots of flavor for the ABV. Should appeal to gateway craft drinkers, as there are some similarities to American lagers, but with more flavor depth. Not really a style I care to drink, but this is to-style and well-made.
