I had dinner with my wife at this location during our Thanksgiving weekend in Chicago.
This joint is in a really cool neighborhood riddled with bars, clubs, and restaurants, and is of course right across the street from the south side of Wrigley Field. The bar itself is very bar-like. That's something that I really appreciate since so many microbreweries (especially ones the size of GI) are more like an Applebee's than a bar. It's pretty big with two levels of seating and a big long bar on the ground floor.
The beers that are available commercially are always good consistent brews, and the special stuff is really good too. I love it when breweries change it up based on the season and try experimental ideas. During dinner, I had a Sahti which is an extremely obscure Finnish style that although not as bizzare as expected is a really good effort to avoid the rut of stouts, pale ales, and hefes that every brewery offers.
The waiter was attentive and kind, and our drinks and food were delivered speedily (although it was pretty dead at 5:30 on a Saturday night). The food was decent, but far from outstanding, and my wife ordered a pumpkin martini that was pretty bad-ass. Most of the menu is focused on traditional bar food...fish and chips, sammiches, and brats. Our big fluffy hot pretzel appetizers were killer.
Overall, this is a nice place to eat and drink. Much better than your other option in the area (Rock Bottom).
