Pours a cloudy, maize color. 2/3 inch head of a white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of bacterial funk, alcohol, citrus (raspberries?), slight pale malt, slight sweet malt, fresh herb (marjoram?), slight pine, hint of hops, and yeast. Fits the style of a Saison / Farmhouse Ale. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of strong bacterial funk, strong yeast, sweet malt, slight hops, alcohol, citrus, hint of pine, and herbs. Overall, great appearance, good aroma, body, blend, and complexity.

Saddlebock Arkansas Farmhouse Ale

A: Golden/Amberish color, with white head.
S: Fruity
T: Lots of flavor. Fruity but unique. Alcohol finish but considering the high abv it is not overwhelming.

Overall: Really enjoyed this beer. Tried it at the brewery and ended up ordering another one later that night at dinner.

Made with grits and Arkansas Rice at 9.2% ABV.

Saddlebock Arkansas Farmhouse Ale

A: Golden cloudy amber with a white head. Nice lacing.

S: Floral/fruity, no hops detected. Very sweet smell.

T/M: Sweet taste with prominent fruit fruit in the beginning. Subtle notes of honey with a prominent alcohol finish. Medium body and light to medium carbonation.

O: Very young beer that I would recommend to all Arkansans. I plan on re-reviewing this beer after the brewery has had an opportunity to tweak the recipe.

Poured from a 22 oz. bomber into a snifter.

A – About 1 cm of off-white head, beautiful amber/orange color, translucent and lets the light through, highlighting the color. A beautiful looking beer.

S – Smells very sweet, a lot of fruit on the nose. Tangerines, maybe some pineapple. Some alcohol burn.

T – Cloyingly, overwhelmingly sweet. Hard to taste much besides sugar, but there is some tangerine or orange, some other citrus.

M – The sugar sticks around on the tongue for way too long, despite all the fruit and sweetness there’s an unpleasant bitterness.

O – I wonder if this beer could use a lot more time in the bottle to age and mellow out. Right now the sweetness overwhelms all the other aspects of the beer and makes it very hard to drink. I sampled about 8 oz. and threw the rest out.

Went to the brewery today and met some of the makers. They described this beer to me made of all local ingredients including grits and rice from the war eagle mill located a few miles away.

Pours a golden, copper color with a 3 finger tan head. Has some good lacing and has an awesome fruit smell. You can taste the distinct saison and fruits. There's some cream in their and a small bite that stays on the palate.

This is what craft beer is all about!

Perfect on the nose.... the Saison style yeast can not be mistaken.
Hard to compare with other beers, the Style is claimed to be indigenous to Arkansas
