Susquehanna Brewing Co. Oktoberfest
12 oz. brown glass bottle, coded "021815"
$1.83 @ Weis Market, Conshohocken, PA

Appearance: Clear deep copper body. Frothy yellowed antique-white head. Rentention is very good, steadily dropping but maintaining a full surface covering. Lacing could be better.

Aroma: Malty, displaying both golden and dark almost-burnt-sugar caramel. There's some sweet bread crust and a bit of delicate fruitiness. Spicy and softly floral hops. Clean, bright, and inviting.

Taste: The flavor follows the aroma. The malt dominates, but is not overbearing; and it's well-balanced by spicy and grassy/floral/leafy hop flavors. The firm bitterness seems fuller than it probably is due to the spiciness of the hops. It finishes dry, although some malt lingers pleasantly in the aftertaste (as it should).

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a gently bristling, fine-bubbled carbonation.

Overall: It appears they were going for more of a Vienna-style here, and they've certainly nailed it. It's a bit bold in terms of hop flavor, but that makes it stand out from the crowd. Nicely done! Anton would certainly approve.

A. The color is a rich dark brown, mahogany with a tiny cream colored head that last only for a second. Virtually no lacing also.

S. The aroma is very weak. You get a little mocha mixed with yeast.

T. The taste is just as weak. But it's reversed from the aroma. More yeasty with a little mocha at the end.

M. It feels decent. Not a very heavy beer but is filling.

O. Overall I would say this is a bland beer. There are much better fall iterations so this could probably be looked over easily.

Served in recommended glass.
