Had these at an overpriced dinner for the quality with a borderline crazy chick. They had a similarity of appearing light and ditzy. Aroma wasn't offensive, very mild and bland of medicinal corn notes.

Really wasn't much to speak of, lots of water, more bitterness than it should have given the lack of much substance to the beer. Prickly carbonation. Pretty clean overall except the bitterness, must be a decent use of rice to this beer.

Poured from a brown 22 oz. bottle. Has a very pale yellow color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is mild, a touch of corn. Taste is downright weak, maybe a hint of malt, very water like. Feels light in the mouth and overall was lacking in flavor, even for this style.

As a rule I’d never sample one of these “Light” beers, but as I was given a sixer by my neighbor, as her soon to be daughter-in-law is from Japan, so she bought the beer only to find out she doesn’t drink, so here goes nothing.

The beer escapes the bottle a very light translucent yellow with a moderate in size bright white head that is frothy in texture, and the lace a very thin sheet to conceal the glass. Nose is all malt what there is of it, crisp and clean, start is sweet, thinly malted, top is light to moderate in feel. Finish is sternly acidic, hops sparse and the aftertaste desert dry, drinkable if you’re into light beers and I must say a tad better than most.

Pours a rather typical and uninspiring clear straw yellow with not much of a white head. Aroma is weak and watery, barely like beer at all. Flavor is malty, on the thin side, all too typical of light beers. Texture has only a little fizz to it. Still I’m glad I gave it a fair shake. [Insert joke about light beer here.]

Bottled on date of 13Jul09 and this one is brewed under 'supervision' by AB InBev in LA. Pours a very clear, very pale yellow with a fizzy white head that initially fades fast to a slowly decaying coating. There is just a bit of lacing on the glass.

Does not smell like much at all. Carbonated water and maybe a light graininess with some rice. Very unoffensive and neutral smelling beer.

Taste is on the mild side, even for a light lager with a few hints of stale grains...much like seltzer water and the rice additions only accentuate the effect. If you want a light beer with the least amount of flavor, this one is a good choice.

Straight from the bottle

A: Pale in color, almost clear in the stream coming from the bottle. The head is fizzy and dissipates almost instantly. Pretty standard so far.

S: Very slight aroma of something almost Belgian which is interesting but it’s difficult to discern.

T/M: Tastes bubbley and a bit malty with some bitterness near the end. It’s pretty bland overall, like seltzer or diet Gatorade.

Yet another contender in the made-with-the-purpose-of-getting-you-drunk category. Because we need more of those…

12oz bottle. Enjoyed at Japan in Epcot after walking around in 90 degree heat.

I can't say this had any special aromas of tastes...grains, some corn, and lighter grassiness. It did go down fast on the hot day, but then again so did the glass of water.

Poured a pale yellow color with modest white head. Smell is very minimal with only a slight sweet note to be found. Taste is very light, but also refreshing, and moderately enjoyable. Finish is more of a refreshing taste, but offers nothing out of the ordinary. Expensive spacer.

Apparently I'm an outlier for not calling this the worst beer on the planet. Honestly, I thought it was plenty smooth, inoffensive, and went fine with my Japanese food. I'd rather have this than a large bunch of the awful "craft" out there.

Appearance - fairly standard light golden color. Much more carbonation than the other Kirins. Half-finger of seltzery white head that quickly bubbles away.

Aroma is very lightly skunked, but clears out after a moment. Fairly pils-like, but light.

Taste - not too bad. Some malty, pilsnerish notes coming through, very bubbly, watered down to about what I'd expect. Not bad for a light, but I wouldn't pay the extra import price for it.

Mouthfeel - crisp, very carbonated with a trace of malt left behind, just slightly sweet.

Drinkability - for hot weather, sure. I think I'd choose a cheaper alternative, but it'll drink.

Picked up at a company friday event. Worth an extra label in my label books, and another review:

Poured into 12-oz tumbler, this extremely pale-gold beer has a fast-forming and fast-dissipating head. The aroma is pretty clean and neutral, with a light pils maltiness. Very clean flavor. Much better than many light beers. The malt is not particularly grainy, though there's not much taste at all. Hop bitterness is quite light, though it is detectable if you look for it.

I haven't had a lot of light macros, but this one is definitely better than the average run-of-the-mill light. It's quite clean, and non-offensive.

Look: Yellow and totally see through 1/4 inch white head and no retention

Smell: Um there isnt one

Taste: Hint of 6 row malt and that's it WOW

Mouthfeel: Thin with medium carbonation

Overall: Very drinkable beer but why would you pay money for a beer with no flavor. Only drank this one because I needed the cap for my bar top

Kirin Light (3.2% alcohol by weight) has a thin, white head, a clear, bubbly, straw appearance, and not a whole lot of lacing left behind on the sides of the glass. The aroma is faint, but one does detect sweet grains and some malt. Taste is of sweet barley malt, standard beer flavor, some mineral water notes, and a touch of hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Kirin Light finishes crisp, clean, refreshing, and dry. Overall, for a beer, it is good, and for a light beer it is most excellent. No off smell or tastes, whatsoever.

Crystal-clear and straw colored with a head that resembles dishwashing soap lather and suffers poor retention. Moderately carbonated with poor lace. Slightly skunky with a slightly sweet grain aroma, more like corn, actually, and a little spicy hops. Taste begins with slightly sweet maltiness and slightly biting carbonation, the taste just fades to a bit of spicy hop bitterness at the finish. The finish is crisp and dry.

In defense of this beer I must say that it is better than many American lights, although that may not be saying much. Still, if one must drink a light beer, this may be one of the better ones. The label copy notes "only 95 calories", so its clear that the caloric content is of more importance to the target audience than the taste.
