Poured on tap at the brewery into a globe tulip type glass.
Amber/orange body color, with a bit of glassy shine. Creamy topped small head of about a finger, slightly khaki to soft white color. Real nice ring lacing while drinking.
Aroma is a small sensing of malts at first with a light caramel, following with nice faint subtle floral hop character. Earth and slight juice hit and round out nicely as well.
Very creamy feeling palate on first sip. Some light tropic hops in the mid palate on first try, but also a bit of del monte fruit quality also. Pineapple. Small caramel notes. While creamy also a bit neutral and thin bodied and a little flat, thus a combination of very good and somewhat weak mouthfeel lending for a solid rating A bit of playful carbonation helps as well.
Overall pretty good, but a bit of a unique hard to judge animal but a solid brew for what it is.

Received from @Josholson666 in NBS BIF #4 – Thanks Josh! Another great brew!
BB 13 Oct 16 (My fault) at 42 degrees into a hand washed and dried JK snifter
Aroma – pine and citrus
Head average (Maximum 3.6 cm, aggressive pour), tan, creamy, slowly diminishing to
Lacing good – medium wide rings of mostly tiny bubbles, connected by stalactites and pillars
Body amber, hazy
Flavor dank, slightly bitter, some citrus, malty. No alcohol, no diacetyl.
Palate medium, watery, lively carbonation
A very pleasing DIPA – wait! It’s a double pale ale – totally fooled me.
Appearance 4.25, Aroma 4, Flavor 4.25, Palate 4, Overall 4.25

imperializing a classic! always something worth trying. this is tremendously good beer, one of my favorites from my recent minnesota trip. indeed always does a great job, but this sis really net level. quite a bit redder in the glass than i remember the base beer being, with most of an inch of creamy tan head. real pretty to look at. dense though, man, this looks more like a deep amber than a pale ale, but the amazingly juicy fresh hop nose has me back on track mentally with this one, orange peel and melon come to mind, high alpha varietals, cuts right through what i would have thought would have been a sweeter and richer malt base to be very prominent. the flavor is really hop driven too, and for how full bodied and red colored this is, it ends up drinking like an ipa. decent bitterness, but great balance, juicy pineapple notes with the orange peel, clover honey, and a hint of fresh pine. its a rich and decadent experience, not too dry and not too bitter, with just a hint of its booze strength when it comes up to temperature. if this were available where i live i would be drinking it all the time. a great beer from one of my local favorites up there. i would go so far as to call it a must try if you like the style!

16oz tallboy can, sample from the brewery.
Love the froth on top, sticky lacing all the way down the glass. Fresh toasty malt, caramel, warming alcohol, orange rind, fallen apples, and hay in the nose and on the palate. Smooth and crisp with a slightly bigger body. Alcohol, toasted grain, and some citrus rind flavor linger in the finish. Quite the strong ale, very easy to knock back ... dangerous for its size.
