Farmhouse Brett aroma, with banana, clove, white wine and some fleshy & tropical fruits. The taste has a lot going on - earthy funk from the Brett, banana & clove, white wine & oak, biscuit & crackers, fleshy & tropical fruits, and mild spicy & flowery hops. Slightly tart finish. Can really tell there were 3 yeast strains used by the complexity and that it isn't a Brett bomb. Effervescent mouthfeel with a very dry finish. This is simply fantastic.

neat these guys are getting into some of the wild stuff. i liked this less than number 3 in the series, but its tasty beer, just a little young and quick on the brett side. it has a nice bright pale yellow look to it, with expected cloudiness and lasting white head in the globe. it smells real cheesy, not like old parmesan or anything, but more with a more farmy, almost goat cheese thing, chevre or something. herbal hops and light oak come in as well, but that new brett thing leads the way. in the taste i am bothered slightly by the crackery cerealy green beer thing thats happening, and like often happens in new wild beer. i know it drops out over time, but i have noticed it most intensely in a beer like ferus fluxus from crooked stave and upslope, and i am reminded of that here. maybe the brett just needs more time. i was also surprised not to taste more wood on this, given the name of the series, but it has a nice white wine flavor to go with all the funk, a little fruity for a second, and it works. fantastic carbonation and nice and dry as it closes out without even a hint of alcohol. quality brew, it would be interesting to see how this ages, but it seems small batch and not bottled, meaning none of it will probably be around long enough to know...

Appearance: hazed and golden, with some flotation devices detected, and a slim white cap atop. Looks fine if funky.
Aroma: fairly screams wildness from afar, but let's go in deep for a real examination. I'm picking up the essence and the oak of a white wine barrel, with the sharpness and strangeness of a wild yeast strain. Feline eliminations. The scent of a barn animal's pajamas. The very aromatics of where the horse hangs his head. And I like it.
Taste: Not much from hops at all, but the yeast twist kicks in right away. I'm unsure what the base beer is here, and I can only guess it began with some Belgian style, which this brewery doesn't do all that much. Just kind of makes some sense, though. Wicked, weird, tart, wild, crazy. Superlatives like that spin out with ease, but a mystery remains. Rich, tasty malt bottom. Tingly yeast flavors continue to delight. It's never too anything, though, thankfully. Not too strange, not too sour, but delivering the right amount of everything.
I can't remember what sets this apart from number 2, just as I currently don't know what #1 really is, either. I'll go to the website and it will all be revealed, I hope. But if this one is the start of their barrel-aging/sour program, they're on the right track.

at the brewery, on tap
into a tulip, pours an orangey amber, white head is a nice crown that leaves some good lacing. very woody nose with moderately medicinal brett and a little bit of funk. pretty juicy taste, and true to its nose...this is a very pleasant beer and a nice bridge into the brett. Good carbonation but not as dry at the end as I expected given the style. All in all, quite enjoyable.
