Notes & Commercial Description:
Beer added by: sacrelicio on 08-14-2012

Regionally grown American pale malt is blended with rich European malt to produce a lighter bodied beer, bright in color, with a taut white head. Then there are the hops - four pounds per barrel to be exact. Willamettes, Cascades, CTZ, and Summits give this brew a citrus punch and spicy character.

A very tasty, very hoppy, that's a rich mellow-golden color but hardly mellow in flavor. A bright, though very light, aroma—coupled with the aforementioned mellow-gold, almost browned-butter appearance—don't really prepare one for the blast of hops that follow: there's a lot of bite, with elements of grapefruit pith and nasturtium, all of which is dusted with notes of freshly-cut summertime grass. The biggest issue, however, is that all these nice notes are very ephemeral: the hops are potent, expand in strength with every moment in the mouth, and eventually reach a bittering pitch that predominates, derailing a lot of the complexity of this APA.

Don't get me wrong: it's a good pale ale—a bit more than the standard-issue hop-blast, but unfortunately a bit less than the paragon of this hyper-hoppy APA sub-style (which I would say is Daisy Cutter). But it's maybe not *quite* "outstanding".

Pale semi-cloudy yellow like an American Pale Wheat Ale.
Going in blind, I thought this tasted like a watery "session IPA". Sort of bland.
Mouth-feel was decent. Just nothing here to get excited about.
