American Pale Ale (APA) |  5.40% ABV

Availability: Year-round

Notes/Commercial Description:
Regionally grown American pale malt is blended with rich European malt to produce a lighter bodied beer, bright in color, with a taut white head. Then there are the hops - four pounds per barrel to be exact. Willamettes, Cascades, CTZ, and Summits give this brew a citrus punch and spicy character.

12oz can from Justdoit1234 (thank you!). Canned 09/05/14. Served in a Terrapin goblet.

Pours pale amber straw with a finger and a half white head that lingers, leaving some healthy clumps of lace.

A nice, simple nose of citrus, grass and vague sweetness.

Taste follows the nose. Oranges, cracker, grassy, herbal mint and a mild spice. There is a pronounced bitterness but not too much.

Light body with frisky carbonation. The finish sits bitter on the tongue. Orange peel, mint and cracker.

Day Tripper is a solidly constructed pale ale. A healthy dose of hops on a subtly sweet malty base with dangerous drinkability in a can?! Can't go wrong here.

A: Vigorous pour from a can, produces decent head that holds for a minute and dissipates before too long. Beautiful apricot color.
S: Holy Dank Tropical fruit. Wow...delicious.
T: Follows the nose...dank bitterness comes in waves, sweet and pineapple and other tropical fruits in the middle, then more dank bitterness. This is the boss. Nice bite to the hops, but not overwhelming. There is some crackery malt there, too.
M: Just about the right carbonation. Refreshing and invites easy drinking.

Overall: A really great beer. A staple in my fridge that I really never seem to get tired of, and I often reach for instead of Furious. Hard to think it isn't an IPA (though when I've tasted alongside of their Let it Ride, it makes sense). Comparable to Daisy Cutter, though that is a little more dry to me and this has more ripe fruit.
