Can to becher pint glass, the appearance was a nice looking dark brown close to black color with a finger's worth of white foamy head that slid off at a moderate pace. Sly amount of sliding stringy lace.
The aroma had a fair balance of roasted dark malts, light citrusy to floral hop portions and ended with a touch of bitter grassy ends.
The flavor was a nice blend of bitter to sweet to roasty qualities of the dark malts and floral to citrusy hop bitter ends. Nice semi-roasty to citrusy aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was almost medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt good. ABV felt appropriate. Some "palate wrecking" features to evoke the necessity for water after this beer.
Overall, pretty nice American Black Ale well worthy to have again.

On tap:
A nice dark brown/mahogany with a frothy beige head that supplies the glass with loads of lacing.

Nose is charred malts and a citrus floral note.

Taste is big on the charred malt, and had a strong overall bitterness to it. Comes across more wooden and earthy, even a little mushroom-like. Warmth brings a little unsweetened chocolate to the mix up front.

Quite bitter, on the dry side, medium-ish heft.

An enjoyable offering but probably couldn't do more than two in a sitting without breaking it up with a little palate relief.
