look: 4 | smell: 4 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.25 | overall: 3.75

A: Pours black with two fingers of tan head that fades into a frothy ring with decent lacing.

S: Dry roasted malt aromas with notes of char, bitter cocoa, and smoke mixed in. Earthy pine and grapefruit aromas from the hops bring up the finish.

T: Earthy and piney hop flavors dominate here with citrus rind, roasted malts, bitter chocolate, and char mixed in. The finish is moderately bitter.

M: Medium body and with carbonation on the lower side of medium, this beer avoids being watery but could use a little more carbonation.

O: A solid ABA overall. It's a little on the bitter/charred side for me, but is still enjoyable and mixes the hop and roasted malt characters well.
