Pours a dark ruddy brown with a trace tan head and no lacing. Smells of figs, chocolate, dried cherry, caramel. I can taste the chocolate nibs, figs or possibly raisins, dark dried fruit, caramel. Body is medium light. Carbonation is a bit weak. Overall the miscellaneous flavors aren't working for me.

Appearance: Dark brown, small, fast-fading head.

Smell: Mild chocolate, vanilla, spices.

Taste: Spices (cinnamon, ginger) then shifts to moderate chocolate with some vanilla and coffee flavors. The spices show up again in the finish.

Overall: Supporting this local and 12oz cans. It's an interesting mix of flavors but doesn't really make a clear statement. Not a stout with strong chocolate/coffee and not amped up spicy winter beer, just in the middle between those. Decent enough but not really to my tastes.

A- very dark red appearing black or very brown, tan head, receds too quickyl and leaves a thin layer and little lace

S- sweet balanced with roast, cacao nibs, sweet coco, some tangy zesty smell I cant really put my finger on, Im guessing that is the raisin. Oh, its kind of a Cola smell.

T- Cacao and vanilla up front, roast balances out well, I'm glad they dried it out to balance, vanilla lingers on, little to no hop flavor, again that strange tang that I'm guessing comes from the raisins. Its that Cola flavor

M- Well dried out to encourage drinkability, if it we less attenuated I think it might be difficult to drink much of.

O- This has been my least favorite Indeed, all their other stuff is much better. To be honest I think it is just way too convoluted and over-engineered. The can reads like a cake recipe, cacao nibs, vanilla, raisins, brown sugar AND natural flavors, whatever those may be. I dont think they needed to add all those extras, each one on its own or with one more ingredient might have led to more complimentary flavors, but the kitchen sink approach didn't result in a successful beer for me.

Poured from a 12 oz. can into an Indeed shaker glass. Canned on 11/03/13.

Appearance: Pours a dark brownish black with a hint of amber. Moderate amount of bubbles and one finger of light tan head that fades into a thin creamy layer. Leaves a decent amount of lacing on the glass.

Smell: A sweet and roasty malt driven aroma with good dark hints of chocolate and dark fruit. Dark roasted malts with hints of cocoa nibs, mild roast coffee, milk, biscuit, grains, toast, caramel, toffee, and yeast. Sweet hints of creamy vanilla and brown sugar. Dark fruit hints of raisins and fig. Mild hints of cinnamon and nutmeg spicing. Hops are very laid back. A pretty good aroma.

Taste: Like the aroma, a sweet and roasty dark malt driven taste with nice notes of chocolate and dark fruit. Upfront dark roasted barley malt with notes of cocoa nibs, coffee roast, caramel, toffee, lactose, cream, toast, biscuit, grains, and yeast. Sweet taste of vanilla and brown sugar. Dark fruit presence with notes of raisins, fig, and plum. Light notes of cinnamon and nutmeg spice. Subtle earthy hop presence in the background. A pretty good taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Very creamy, silky, and smooth. Sweet but far from cloying.

Overall: A very good spin on a Winter beer. Its more like a twist on a Milk/Sweet Stout than the typical Winter Warmer. Good creamy chocolate taste with a nice dark fruit undertone.

Pours dark reddish brown with a small light tan head which fades quickly, leaving no lacing. Has an interesting aroma with cocoa nibs, dark fruit, vanilla, spices, and brown sugar. Smells like it will be sweet.

Tastes just like it smells with cocoa nibs, dark fruit, vanilla, spices, and brown sugar. Has a sweet flavor with no hop bitterness.

Medium bodied with modest carbonation. Has a cocoa nib and dark fruit aftertaste. A pretty good beer, but I'm not sure if all of the flavors compliment each other real well. Glad I at least picked up a single can to try this.

12oz can labeled "Dust Bowl Suds Canned on 11/03/13"

Look is a dark cola color, can't see thru to the other side to spot chunks. Smell is figs, fresh cut grass, sweet molasses and ginger. Taste is great: it starts out with crisp chocolate malts that fade into an excellent sweet meld of holiday spice and fruit. It reminds me of a cross between Monkey Bread and ribbon candy, but tasty.

Not a big winter beer fan, but this is first class all the way. Just needs less nibs.

LESS NIBS PLEASE

Dark amber/light brown color with a creamy head of foam that leaves some lacing.

Getting cola with some vanilla extract in the nose.

Dusty cocoa up front followed by some cola, raisin and spice. Vanilla and sugar cookie comes in at the end along with some earthy and bitter hops. More chocolate comes into play as it warms. Nice array of flavor. Very fall tasting.

The mouthfeel is nice and smooth, but it does feel lighter than a 6.5% beer.

A great take on a winter warmer. This would make a great Thanksgiving/Christmas beer. Very holiday like in flavor and easy drinking too.
