The giant pretzel is ridiculously good, the beer is ridiculously good and even beers that sell out in hours at Saucer seem to stick around quite awhile. Sometimes that's enough but I absolutely hate walking into this place. It's dark as hell and the staff is slow and don't seem to care much about, well, anything really. Going up to the bar to order has been the best method for me to get decent service. I've been there mostly late evening 11PM+ and there's always a ton of well dressed twenty somethings trying to out hipster each other in dresses that look like they were made from their grandmothers curtains or the tightest vintage Fred Perry shirt they could skinny into. Even the name just screams pretentiousness. Really? Mongoose vs. Cobra? I'm sure they have fantastic owners and I'm sure this atmosphere appeals to many. To be fair every bar along main street downtown has the same atmosphere and clientele. I'm just a sloppy, cynical, metal shirt wearing dude who loves beer and prefers a dive I suppose.

Been to this place several times, guess I should review.

The decor/atmosphere is very nice and simple. Concrete floors, brick walls, open rafter type ceiling. Some tables in the back, long beer hall style tables in the front (that I would describe as modern beer-hall-esq). This place can get very loud when there is a crowd.

Every time I've been here the service hasn't been quite up to snuff. Whether it's a waitress who doesn't know a Hefe from an IPA or a painfully slow line at the bar, I wouldn't describe the service as anything better than average.

I find the selection of taps a little stale at times - there never seems to be a lot of rotation/variety to please me, however they also have a large liquor selection and their bartenders generally tend to know what they're at for cocktails, so props to the place.

Haven't explored a lot of their menu, but what I did have I found to be quite good in terms of bread/meat/cheese tray options.

All in all, for the $ a glass of quality beer costs you in this place, I have other places in the midtown area I'd rather frequent. It is a great spot to please a large group with a variety of tastes, and I wouldn't turn it down if invited out for a drink.

Pretty cool new bar that I've tried a few times. No sign out from, so you'll fly right by if you don't know where to look. Good amount of parking. Love the long tables and wooden benches, makes it more of a communal gathering and a good place to meet new friends. Always have a good selection of beers on the long chalkboard that runs almost half way down the left wall. Had a Deep Ellum Wealth & Taste last time that was great. Always have good TX locals along with Clown Shoes, some Belgians, Brewdog, etc. Can get very busy as it is not a huge place, but is still a good time. highly recommended.
