These guys where at the epic series in new Port beach. There IPA is solid ggreat hop taste. Rich hop flavor with a clean finish. Smell is floral with a hint of grass. Pours golden. Medium body goes down easy. Would recommend

a: looks really nice. A golden, orange color, slightly hazy with a nice creamy head.

s: a nice tangerine fruitiness, some malt, and yeast. Also a slightly noticeably roasty malt detectable, sort of like you'd get from Stone IPA or Sculpin. Not very complex or strong however.

t: a nice bitter, deep malt character that is followed by a nice bitterness and floral hop character. A very slight metalic taste to it, which is brought out by a very faint watery feel.

Probably needs a little more body to mask some unbalanced flavors, but still better than I thought.

A: Poured aggressively into a pint glass. When held up to the light this one is a translucent golden, copper with hints of amber. Not much head atop, just some scattered bubbles and film (much more when I poured the second half of the bottle). Lots of lacing and hop oil residue on the edges of the glass as you drink. Carbonation levels look to be a bit lower than average. I like that it's a bit hazy and the lacing is a good sign.

S: Hops are front and center; mostly floral and pine notes with some orange and lemon citrus zest. A definite toffee malt backbone. A pleasant odor, although there is a slightly off-putting rubbery, metallic note that becomes more apparent as the beer warms.

T: Drinks very similar to the smell. Bitter grapefruit rinds and lemon hit first, followed by a mellowing middle where the malts struggle to add some balance and sweetness. Finishes fairly balanced although the hops prevail once again in the aftertaste with oily, bitter grapefruit and pine resin .

M: Medium bodied with mild but active carbonation and a bit of chewiness. Some oil on the tongue, but not overly oily or sticky. A tad thin, but easy on the stomach and quite drinkable.

O: Nothing intricate here, just a great sessionable IPA (as advertised).

Poured from 22oz bottle into Duvel tulip glass.

Appearance: Hazy golden-orange color with a smaller white head that dissipates fairly quickly, leaving behind large spots of lace.

Smell: Sweet grain with mango and blood orange. Mild floral and grassy hints.

Taste: Begins with a toasty bitterness that rounds out to bitter citrus peel. Finishes bready with an herbal touch. Strong, almost rubbery, bitterness lingers in the throat.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with smooth carbonation and a slightly dry finish.

Overall: A pretty ho-hum IPA, especially for the West Coast. Not necessarily bad, but there's definitely something missing. Strike is a newer brewery that's been around less than a year and this beer has only been around since May 2012 (as per their website), so I wouldn't be surprised to see some tweaks in the future. The bottle was only $3.99 at a local store, so it was a low risk investment. To sum it up- an alright IPA, but too average. Still, this does have a place- a decent choice for a session IPA.

Hazy golden amber in the Stella Artois tall glass. Plenty of foam to start, and quite adequate carbonation.

Sort of a buttery flavor along with the bitterness. Vegetable flavors, rather acidic. Not very drinkable and not any of the fresh hop flavor I'm looking for in an IPA. Murky and earthy tastes followed by an agressive bitterness.

From the 22 oz bottle bought at Coit Liquor in San Francisco. I suppose I shouldn't be prejudiced, but it is brewed by Hermitage Brewing Company, the same people who bring you those wretched BevMo beers.

Purchased for beer revolution and for the most part this beer is uninspiring. Starts with a golden brown sunset color with two fingers of eggshell foam - beer has a nice hop haze. Nose and taste offer muted citrus and a floral light pine notes. What i cant get by is a prevalent soapy taste (yes i did rinse my duvel tulip). Nothing special to see here just an average if not slightly below ipa. Brewed in san jose my guess at hermitage which inspires zero confidence (outside of calicraft) to produce good beers.

This was the worst beer to hit my lips all year. First the bottle exploded and I lost 1/2 of it on the kitchen floor; when it finally settled I poured what was left into a glass. The scent and flavor was like greasy molded cardboard. I took one sip and thought "is this really as bad as it seems" waited a few minutes, took another sip....and poured it all down the drain. Waste of $6.
