Congrats to the Sleeping Giant Brewing Co. on their opening, and I wish them a successful future of serving Thunder Bay with delicious craft brews!
A - Pours a slightly hazy pale golden colour, two fingers of head with some retention and some sporadic lacing.
S - Scent is dominated by bready notes, wheat and lemongrass, a hint of citrus and some butter notes come off on the finish.
T - The wheat flavours come through nicely, alongside a solid dose of bready malts, the citrus hop notes are detectable but mild though serve up a nice bitterness on the finish. Grassy notes come through as well, with a touch of honey sweetness that lingers.
M - Medium bodied, though a tad thin which may be the result of rough transportation in the growler, and finishes wet. I'd like to try this straight from the tap next time.
O - Overall a tasty wheat ale that offers up some solid flavours given the style. A mild ale that is easily sessionable and is a welcome addition to the area. I'm looking forward to Sleeping Giants more adventurous ales going forward, but this is definitely an easy drinking go-to if you're a fan of the style.
