This was our second time going to Williamsburg so we were more than excited to see this place open up in Market Square. The beer list was awesome and they had a very diverse well thought out range of styles. I order 3 5oz tasters and one which included FW DDBA which sold out instantly in Nova so I was very happy to see it on tap and so easy to get!
The food was good although my girlfriends pot pie was a little cold in the center. The Fried Green Tomatoes were outstanding.
The prices were fair for the area. The beer was actually pretty well priced but the food a little expensive. Some of the beer seems to be priced a little high but you must notice that much of it is served in authentic 20oz Imperial Pints.
If you are in the area on vacation of not it is the best beer place in town.

I'll put this simply. If you are ever in the colonial Williamsburg area you must stop at DoG Street Pub. No questions, just do it.
The food, while a bit pricey, was delicious. Service was passable though there were times we weren't checked in on for over ten minutes. The beer selection was great, but the best part for me was their serving size options. Full imperial pints, half pints and my favorite, 5oz tasters. I love being able to try several beers without drinking gallons of beer.
You really can't beat the area it is in, parking can sometimes be a hassle but really, if you have to park far away it is neat to walk through the area and look at all the shops and various sights they have around. Sure it is touristy, but I dig it.

I was in Williamsburg to participate in a roundtable at William & Mary with 4 colleagues. After we decided to get a bite to eat and a couple of beers. Did a quick search and this place came up. I will go back, hands down one of the best gastropubs I've ever visited anywhere. What a gem they've got there.
The food was exactly what you'd want to pair with beer, a wide selection of appetizers, a la carte, great salads, mains, and sandwiches. Had the lamb burger, and was not disappointed. Also had two different beers, both were fresh and served in the appropriate glass. The service was fantastic, and the server was knowledgeable on all of the food and the beers...with 6 people at our table with varying tastes he was answering a lot of questions, and when the fare arrived, it was clear he nailed everything perfectly.
If you want to get some great food, visit this place. If you'd like to try some new and hard to find beers in the Tidewater...this is it.

Great gastropub atmosphere. Food is decent--certainly better than any other bar in town. Liquor and especially craft beer selection is great. New microbrews on tap every week. Only classy bar in town, or at least the only one within a reasonable walking distance of the College and Colonial Williamsburg.

This is a good place to get a beer in the historic Williamsburg area. A little more formal (but in no way dressy) than some of the other spots around town. Just fitting for the setting in town.
Good draft selection with a pretty extensive bottle list.
Service was good. Bartender was nice but not chatty. Food was solid but not anything great. Decent prices.
One good thing for BA's, they pour tastes, half pints, and full pints. So, you can try plenty without getting too bombed before checking out the 18the century stuff.

DoG Street Pub is sort of the 'high end' beer bar in Williamsburg. The selection of draft beers isn't as big as some other places, but it's a very carefully thought out list. There are some really cool beers that you rarely see on tap in this area. They have a huge list of bottles.
The food is great, and has a lot of English influence, with a good selection of pub standards, such as burgers. I've had a number of things here, and it's all been great. The menu also changes seasonally, so it's interesting to see what they have to offer. The appetizers stay pretty exciting, as you can get things that are typical of English food, but are rarely seen here, such as Scotch eggs and Welsh rarebit. The Cornish pasty, and any of their curry dishes are excellent.
It's a fun atmosphere, with a large common table in the middle and regular seating elsewhere. Sitting at the common table allows you to intereact with other patrons. I've met tourists and locals this way. The only drawback is that this place get really busy during the tourist season and that it's very loud in the main restaurant area. It's a large, high ceilinged area, and it echoes a lot.
The theme here is to provide a high quality pub experience. This place respects beer, and is a fun visit. If it's packed, you can walk to the nearby Green Leafe, which is still great, but not as fancy.

The atmosphere was interesting. I enjoyed the bartenders willingness to converse about the many beers and were very helpful in choosing the correct flavors for my taste. The food was outstanding. They have a great menu with many interesting choices. I enjoyed the Bangers and mash (twice). The fried green tomatoes and the hummus appetizers were fabulous as well.

A - Way too loud, even downstairs.
Q - The beer quality of selection wasn't all that impressive given that they've probably got the best selection in Colonial Williamsburg. Still good, just not what I would have hoped.
S - Our wait staff was slow, and one of my beer orders came out wrong.
S - The beer selection was diverse; they had everything from obscurist American IPAs to decent German, British and Belgian ales and lagers.
F - My father-in-law wasn't blown away by his meal, but everyone else at the table was. Outstanding food made it worth the wait. The second-best food, unto itself, in Colonial Williamsburg, and given that they have the best beer selection available, it's definitely my favorite place in that neighborhood.
V - Colonial Williamsburg. Ergo, pricey.

This place is slightly hard for me to be objective for two reasons: a) I try to avoid touristy and/or popular spots that just happen to serve craft beer and b) my wife, in particular, had a horrible experience. Went there on a Saturday night at 9 and the place was booming with tourists and locals and yes, it's tourist based pricing. What happened to me is that the (as we were later told "brand new") server forgot my drink order so I waited about 20 minutes for one beer. Aggravating, somewhat, but compounded when the three empty tables next to us when seated but filled shortly after received their drinks first. The real kicker was that the server forgot to put in my wife's order and only realized then apologized and rushed said order after 55 minutes...for a burger. That was terrible for her and of course did not make me feel so good. The manager and server apologized for their mistake and wiped the whole (about $35-$40) bill so I can't say it was bad service but just made us frustrated. As for the beer, quantity wise they have a good bottle selection of imports and domestic but nothing outstanding and they do frequently rotate taps with some hard to find gems. So beerwise this place is a must, at least one time, but be forewarned they run out of stuff/rotate pretty quick (my first beer selection off bottle menu was out). So that was my experiece and review - if you're a local or on vacation I would check it out, maybe save for lunch when less crowded (I assume) after walking around the colonial properties.
