Thanks to my awesome gf im able to try some brand spanking new yooper beer from a brewery that recently opened in Copper Harbor, MI.

A&S: medium black colored beer. Not super viscus looking. Very nice creamy tan head that really holds its owe the whole way. Lacying is pretty good. Sweet malts, some dark chocolate, and a bit of roastyness.

T&M: much more bitter then most oatmeals and not really as smooth. With the alcohol in the taste and the features I mentioned earlier I would have thought this to be an Russian. Has some of the normal sweetness present in most oatmeals upfront but really gets bitter towards the end. Also has some dark fruits to it.

O: Not really what the style's all about but overall as a stout I thought it was pretty good. This brewery overall is pretty decent and I would like to get my hands on their pale because I've heard its the best of the bunch.

Poured from 22 oz. bottle into the perfect DFH glass. Purchased from Fitzgerald's Restaurant in Eagle River, MI. Just came in, lets give it a shot!

Appearance: Pours a deep brown/almost black with minimal light getting through. Has more had than the other beers he has released in bottles, possibly getting the priming sugar down. Nice frothing rising mocha colored head that sticks around for a while and leaves a nice lacing on the edge of the glass and a good ring in the middle of the glass.

Smell: A nice roasted note hits me initially, then gives way to soft oat and grass. Beautiful full coffee aroma compliment the roasted malt...a bit of nail polish remover is coming through, not sure what that is.

Taste: More of that nail polish remover...but not overwhelming. The roast is prominent once again, yet is fully supported by a rich creamy licorice like character, with a dry, yet soft oatmeal flavor.

Mouth: Mouthfeel is a bit sweet and cloying. Might be a bit under attenuated, with some real sticky notes.

Drink and overall: Hey this is a solid beer. Just like the Porter, just like the Pale Ale, etc etc. He's doing some good stuff, and this one is no different. For a first time on the new 3 barrel system, I think it turned out pretty good. After a couple swipes at it, I bet it will only get better. Thanks!
