I drank a 12oz mug of this on-tap. It has a wonderful red/orange appearance with that slight off white head. The color truly is fine, almost a ruby. It is a bit bitter in taste with a hint of fruit, a solid mouthfeel. As for drinkability, I would go another direction for a session.

440ml gold can
Pours with an amber body, thin but semi fluffy head
Smell is malty, little hop aroma with very little bite
Taste is malty, little bitterness but overall a very smooth finish and little lasting taste on the palette
Not a bad pale ale if there is a lack of much better craft cask ales

This used to be one of my favorites until I ventured out into other types of beer. It still demands attention because it is so widely available.
Appearance: Though pleasing with its medium brown color, its lack of carbonation makes it seem stagnant.
Smell: Hints of oak and a roasted scent.
Taste: Smooth, but not crisp or engaging. Lingering taste of malt.
Mouthfeel: Slightly chalky, but clean.
Drinkability: 1st glass or two are refreshing, but after that, it can become laborious leaving behind a sticky dryness in one's throat.
Overall, it's a descent beer, but there are far better brews on-tap in most bars. Think of this beer as a palate cleanser.

While pouring this ale in a glass, it appeared to be of a light amber color with very little foam. The smell of hops filled the nose. The taste had a fair amount of hops although very thin and sort of weak on the finish. But still, a very pleasant ale that had a mild to semi-mild flavor.

suppose this is what is labelled 'premium ale' in Britain ... even in the can version most of the qualities of this brew are apparent in the glass .... it is fruity as an ale ought to be ... much smoother than most minor brews, however not as bland as other examples of a major brew labelled 'Boddingtons' or 'Tetley's' .... a great example of 'big brand' ....
