May 2013 label date (not indicating best-by but 2 years after bottling). Dusky, cloudy gold with a big head of big persistent bubbles. Do I smell dry hopping? A slight aroma of hop flower, toast, yellow fruits, a whiff of cellar. Quite unexpectedly sweet (ah, the label ingredients speak of sugar before hops), caramel, a bit of anis and sasparilla flavor, some peach and apricot. A quite herbal -- in a good way -- and restrained hop bitterness works it way in late. Mouthfeel is rather thick, not cleansed by the hops as one would expect for the style. Satisfying but not more-ish. Overall, some plus points outweigh it being not a classic example of the style.

Nice decent IPA. For a Belgian beer, it misses a little bit the fullness that we find with other blond beer. But overall, a very nice beer, it sort of grew on me while drinking it. Interesting hop bitterness. Nice hoppy and herby aroma, hoppy aftertaste stays in the mouth for quite a while.

Bottle at 't Walhalla

A: Slightly hazy golden colour, white head.

S: Aroma of hops, malts, apricot and bread. Not really a typical IPA smell

T: A rather sweet flavour, light bitter and fruity. Bitter exotic fruits, grapefruit accompanied by grassy and floral noble hops.

M: Medium carbonation, soft mouthfeel, medium body.

O: Nice beer but I was expecting a more pronounced, in your face, hop presence. I think this is a rather good example of the style, nothing world class just a really decent and balanced offering from these youngsters.

Pours deep cloudy orange with a huge fluffy white head that recedes to a thick cappuccino-like dense cap in time.
Strong smell of Belgian spicy yeasts, some spicy hops, nice, peppery, floral, bit of honey, apple and pear, some citrus too.
Starts quite herbal, spicy and with nice orchard fruit. Yellow apple and pear, apricot and peach, grapefruit, faint coriander, faint lemongrass, anise, lots of peppercorn. Honey sweetness balances things out, really floral. Things get bitter with a big grassy feel, finishing with spicy hops and prickly spices.
Medium bodied and carbonated, alcohol is just a bit warm. Works nicely.
A Belgian IPA that stands true to the hop-involving part of the style, big on the yeasts too. Good, if not a bit too "standard".
