32 ounce Howler/Growlete/whatever you guys call it.

I've had this on tap before and liked it. Not enough to review but now it's time. Coming to you guys live, what do I think of this beer! I pour this brew and its outstanding! WestCoast sunset body with a touch of white cloudy skies. Deep and brassy! Looks like I am going to enjoy this brew.

Now I smell my prey before me! Huge citrus hits first that reminds me of Grapefruits and ripe tangerines. A tropical vibe going on in the middle with tropical fruit and flowers. Very nice and refreshing. The backend there is notes of cedar and resin. Nice hoppy touch.

Taste test time! First hits the palate with citrus, Tangerine and Grapefruits.Flows through a touch of tropical fruits mainly Passion Fruit and a subtle Papaya. Which leaves a dank resinous hop flavor that dominates the aftertaste. The malts are sweet with a crackerish touch. This finishes semi-dry with a clean, lingering bitterness. The feel is medium built on the palate with mellow fizzy carbonation.

Overall: This is probably one of the better DIPAs to come out of Central Baltimore. It's firing on all cylinders yet it seems a bit restrained. It wants to be great, yet not adventurous. I Would drink this daily if it weren't on Rotation status. I can't wait until they can this brew. This brew is clean, balanced and on the verge of being raw. This brew is Recommended!

Pours a semi-transparent orange, verging on medium amber in color. Topped with a dense yet delicate head of foam, it's appealing to behold in the glass. Juicy, resinous aromas pour over the lip, hitting the piney and tropical touchstones expected from the style. Its dankness is reminiscent of overripe mango, papaya, and maybe jackfruit, too. Sustaining bitterness throughout with just enough of a malty undertone to keep the profile tipping in the direction of drinkable. Medium bodied with a lingering, drying finish, this is a well-made DIPA for Mid-Atlantic hopheads.

Huge hop smack in the nostrils when this one hits the glass. Really juicy, green, bright smell.

On the palate, big pine hits first, then juicy citrus fruit, peach and tangerine. Pine remains at the forefront and at times seem to subdue other flavors. Sturdy, biscuity malt backbone, but still finishes super dry and bitter.

Overall, a Very bright and fresh tasting IPA that drinks nowhere near a 8.5% beer. A smooth, clean brew that goes down way too easy.

12 oz. can poured into a Chimay goblet (12/1/14, first canned batch)

A: Hazy copper color with a flourish of a head and a fuzzy collar. 4
S: Fruity and floral. Tropical with a solid pine tree in there. 4.5
T: Light, yet strong and flavorful. Just delicious and easy to drink. 4.5
M: Brisk carbonation that really carries the hops. 4.5
O: Best MD canned DIPA, but also the only one. One of the best in the state and one of the better that I've had. So glad this is in cans. 4.5

Initial Review Below:

Had on tap at Max's during BBW 2013 (from notes, 10/23/13, first batch ever)

A: Light, blonde copper. 3.75
S: Excellent and interesting hop profile. Strong smells. Good sign. 4
T: Full on hop bomb. All pine with a fine subtle aftertaste. 4.25
M: Light and full. 3.75
O: This is a great IPA and it won Max's blind-tasting for a dedicated brewery tap line for 3 months. Local and fresh. 4

Excellent Double IPA, enjoyed a couple of months ago at the White Oak Tavern. Local Baltimore brew enjoyed at the end of Howard County Beer week.

A) Coppery appearance with orange tints.
S) Fruity aroma. Jacewg nailed it when he said it smells like Enjoy By. That was exactly what I said when I tasted it.
T) Taste also similar to Enjoy by, hoppy with hints of fruit.
M) Medium body and carb.
O) Excellent DIPA, will be looking for its return
